It is difficult to say because both figures give you great abilities that differ completely from each other.
Corpheus gives you a great big bounder that seldomly misses while Skyros gives you a great charger with sweep to take out multiple figures at the same time.
Both figures are very good at what they are designed to do, but both have their weaknesses.
I don't know if this is a fair comparison to say which of these two are better.
Let's just say that they are both highly usable figures.
Xanathon
truthfully it depends what you are fighting (which usually you dont know) if you are fighting against LI skyros all the way but corpheous is great for shreading formations and long (long) range.
I think that corpheus is the the better of the 2. Even against swarms, corpheus does have triple arrows with flame/lightning and a 13 attack and he can stay out the reach of most figures without ever having to go into combat. Against a high defender, EGM or Shield Golem, skyros has no chance, but corpheus does.
Both are long ranged figs, though Corphy has more than double the effective range of Skyros.
Both are very good against normal swarms, Corphy is much better against swarms with a Defend figure (eg Shield G).
For absolute first strike, it has got to be corpheus. Skyros is more of a harasser/ follow-up hitter, and has to be protected carefully to use him at his best slots if used against a ready army
Overall Corpheus will give you an advantage especially against swarms of any kind. He needs good support to prevent being killed after that first strike though. I almost got caught with my pants down playing corphy vs a strkier and stomper.
Both are excellent figures, but they are completely different in almost all ways ... except that they both have huge potential speed. It is difficult to compare the 2 figures due to the nature of their SA & stat combination. Bottomline, if you want a high priced, bounding ranged attacker then Corpheus is a choice. If you want a high priced (compared to other chargers) moderately powerful, high speed charger with sweep, then Skyros is your man.
The stats for Corpheus fall through the roof though once he is hit. Once you take his bound away he is just a normal figure. Skyros has more clicks of life, not sure exactly how many, plus having Command makes him more effective for the overall army.
I am not saying that Skyros is better, but I disagree that Corpheus is obviously a better figure.
I agree with the comment that rjrt made. It depends on the situation and what type of army you are going up against.
Corpheus is not that all powerful that he can't be taken out. Neither is Skyros for that matter.
Here is one problem I see with Corpheus. Most people use him as a stand alone figure with no support troops near him because he has MI. By leaving him alone he can get swarmed and taken out easily. Having multiple shots is nice, but not that good because one click of damage sometimes doesn't matter, especially if your opponent has figures with Toughness.
If you use Corpheus with support troops at some point you have to leave your support troops behind to use his Bound. With his high bound ability it may take two turns just to get the support troops up to where Corpheus is at.
If Skyros gets swarmed his sweep ability is much more useful. However since he is primarily a close combat figure getting into base to base maybe difficult.
Bith excellent fiigures suffering from glass jaws. (Small one in Skyros' case though) Skyros, though, is one of the few figures that can support Corpheus well. Maybe even try them together in a 3-500 Point game. Corphy shoots, Skyros acts as a superior bodyguard who can match him pace for pace. He can eliminate a swarm grouping to take out the Corpheus. I like them both a lot, wish I had Skyros too. Corphy elimiates the high defence that is the centaur's bane. Sounds good, I'll need to proxie up an army for that.
