in the last few weeks i to have noticed all the threads of how mk is "dying" well i like many other realmers know this is not true i love mk to the end anyway heres the plan its not needed but to help restore some of the faith in mk here what you can do

"spark" your community i personally started a new comic store near me to run MK tournaments rather than MW and got about 10 new players into the scene

so heres the plan in the next week or so get atleast one player in your area to either

1: join mkrealms they can be a current player but we always can use more people here also post there names im sure people will be willing to help more if we know there new i for one would

2: recruit a new player get someone interested give away figs i know everyone has tons of nons, heros, or uniques lying around they may be low $$$ value but they will get more interested if there given free figs

3: "backstab" recruit a player from one of the other games MW, HC, shadow run, crimson skies, D&D even just get one person to play mk

if you accomplish one of these objectives post your story here


i know this is not needed i just love mk and the fact that people leave because of rumor makes me sick there are ways around everything that the way this game was desigened

tried soo many times my one friend just as he was gonna buy his 1st starter rebelled against the whole gamers scene the jocks got to him b4 he was fully converted

Another friend of mine bought a starter but he gave up he had a lack of $$$$ after buying his new guitar

This case was my 1st attempt to convert somebody but i did the big bad never to do again mistake I BEAT HIM never beat somebody u try to convert *NEVER* even if he starts rubbing it in w8 until he has been fully converted

my current attempt to convert somebody may just succeed he has previously played these type games although there is one problem he lives far away from me so besides seeing him at school where i can show him the rules and a few figs
i have yet to play a game with him as soon as i can get a few games with him i am quite sure he will converted (cuz like me he is a sucker for this type of stuff)

otherwise besides the above person i have not chosen any victims for about 6 months (i am starting to lose confidence)

The problem is opinions... As the saying goes Opinions are like XXXholes, everyone has one. Although, that doesn't mean you have to speak it.. I only see that negative issues get posted to death here and nothing on a positive note go on for more then a few replies and it dies away. Personally, I'm totally loosing interesting not in MK but ,the realms because these forums are like the dumpsters of the world except for a few areas that actually are productive and have useful comments.

Makes me wonder that if people are even playing mage knight. Instead they come to the forum to whine and complain...

Seems to me, last I checked, everyone's XXXhole speaks up every once in a while! ^^;;

When I got into MK I asked one of my friends if he wanted to start also. Me and him have been playing(somewhat) for the past 2 and a half years.

I have since discovered Ebay and have bought many figures there. I have not played in any tournaments because they all occur on days when I work. However, I have not played against anyone else.

My friend on the other hand has not progressed as far. Money seems to be the problem. Boosters that go for $7 are a little too expensive and the figures you get tend to suck! All of the good-tournament quality figures I own, I pretty much bought off of Ebay(I am currently trying to trade figures on the realms, but I do not have duplicates of most of the figures that people want. I think of it as having two choices: 1)Buy Boosters at $7 each and hope to get some good figures to keep or trade or 2)Buy figures off of Ebay so that you can keep them or trade them.) MK is supposed to be cheaper than those other minatures games, but for the average person it is a lot of money.

I do not mind spending my money on MK because it is my current hobby. My friend has to ration his money. I try to have him buy figures on Ebay because you get the figure you want. I remember when there was a Marrow for $4.99 Buy It Now and he still didn't want it even though I showed him how powerful it can be.

I tried to get another friend to play, but then again it was too expensive.

If I would have to make a reference to Magic the Gathering and the popular Yu-gi-oh card games, they all have one thing in comon: One pack of cards costs $3.00.

When recently a local card shop was renovating and rather move their MK, they decided to sell them at half-price, I immediately jumped on it. I bought about 15 boosters of Sinister, but all I had to show for it was a Dwarven Stomper, some good nons, and garbage nons. $60 spend and nothing really to show for it. Not one Solonavi Unique.

I was getting depressed because the though of me paying full price for all those boosters was sickening.

I still enjoy MK and have pondered buying a case because most people do get their ratio of 1 in 6 boosters has a unique in it. And I have heard that if the set is good enough then selling the uniques alone should get you back all the money you spent on the case while still having a load of useful nons.

The main point is money from what I have seen. And yes I have tried to give away figures and most people are excited, but in the end do not start due to monetary costs.

I have gotten most all my close friends into the game, and am discouraging people that are starting to get into MW.

Excellent goal mkminions1! It should be a goal of every gamer to recruit/encourage the new players. They are the life blood of any game system. Plus it's really rewarding to see someone you taught, turn into a more-than-worthy opponent!! More fun for all!!

the best way is to convert the nongamers is to play. If you play they will ask, "whatchadoin?" if you say, "MageKnightUdumass" you will have lost the chance to gain a convert, if you say, "ItsMageKnightHangroundillshowU" you may gain for US a convert.
