Okay folks... You really want to let TOPPS know about your feelings for the game!? Here's your chance. Write them a letter! Here are some guidelines you need to follow:
1.) BE COURTEOUS! Rudeness will only give TOPPS a bad feeling for what they've acquired. No threats like "If you take MK away I'll come up there and...(insert empty threat here). Be civil!
2.) Let them know how much you love the game! Tell them how much fun you've had...how much it's meant to you...and how much you'd love to see it continue to grow and flourish.
3.) Tell them who you are! We're EVERYONE folks! We've got military, PhDs, Air Traffic Controllers, venue owners, Company Executives, small business owners. We come from all walks of life and all ages! Let them know who you are and where you're coming from!
4.) Don't make suggestions on how to fix the game! I repeat DON"T MAKE SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO FIX THE GAME! Send that stuff to Wizkids if you want to. Don't make TOPPS a part of the creative process yet...
Here's the address:
The Topps Company
401 York Ave.
Duryea, PA 18642
Post to this thread and let everyone know you've sent a letter! I'll post my letter here later today!
This is a good idea. Rather than yelling that the sky is falling or thinking doom and gloom people can really do something constructive.
say a couple hundred loyal players wrote to Topps (even a postcard) just to say that they have loved MK in the past and look forward to supporting the game (with purchuses) in the future, that would perhaps get them thinking about how they have an established cash cow on their hands.
The Rabbidgerbal for one doesn't want to see another good game end up in the discount bin and be forced to talk about old times. Their continued production and support relies on our own continued support.
first and foremost... we don't have to do anything with TOPPS at the moment. Did they announce anything about pulling the plug on MK? no. Do we know that with them on the helm would screw WK and its properties? no.
TOPPS and WK is still undergoing their buyout process, and we haven't felt or see any change or announcement (yet) on any of the games that WK has out currently.
MK is not dying... its the players that posts here about the doom and gloom of MK that puts the game down.
Wow this is great! I try to post a positive thread about people letting TOPPS know what a cool game they've got now and all I get is negativity.
Runabout, the whole point of this project is to show TOPPS that the game has a loyal fan base. Looking at this site you really couldn't tell. Actually, looking at this thread you couldn't really tell. Also, should we wait until they pull the plug on the game to say "Hey wait...that was a fun game."? Or should we be proactive?
This really suprises me... I had hoped there would be a few people who would care enough to do this, but apparently I was wrong. I guess I'll just adopt the strategy of sitting back and doing nothing just like the rest of you.
Actually, you know what... that isn't going to cut it. I mean this would cost you all of 10-20 minutes of your time and a freakin stamp and that's too much effort!? I mean we've got everybody and there brother on this site slamming the game and saying TOPPS will run it into the ground and I try and post one positive effort and get nothing but jank in return except for the big bad gerbal daddy!
There's got to be someone out there who still gives a flying rat's butt about the game and is willing to sacrifice a little time to let TOPPS know about it! Notice nowhere in the effort do I say to beg TOPPS not to get rid of the game! I just want to let them know we're pulling for them to make it even better than it already is!
Of all the stuff I've seen on here, the above posts reflect some of the worst attitudes about MK I've seen so far...
Sentinel:
I do believe that your idea has merit, and a letter of congratulation on buying the worlds best miniatures game to Topps, may be well recieved.
However, can I suggest that you don't take it personally if people disagree, however unhelpful they appear to be, theat is after all what free discussion is all about.
Personally I can't see them killing the game, it may not be the biggest selling game from WK currently, but it still makes a healthy profit for them, and carries (I'm told) the biggest profit margin per figure in the clix range.
Over the next week or so I may well come back to this thread and write them a letter as you suggest, but I'm also playing a "sitting on the fence to see what they do first" game.
Your positive approach does you great credit, thanks for the idea.
Think of it this way - if people here post negatively about the idea; THEY ar not the people that you'd want writing to TOPPS anyways.
Don't bombard them with letters each week - but if a number of people send a SIMPLE letter stating that they enjoy MK/Whatever - someone will read the letter over at TOPPS.
Orc Mage and Yandros I appreciate your attitudes. My above posts were first responses to the replies written very early in the morning and thus may be a little harsh.
I do have one question. Why is it that whenever you disagree with someone and post your feelings someone always comes up with the free speech thing about having rights to speak your mind? So let me get this straight... I post something...someone disagrees with me...then when I post a reply in return I'm violating the "free speech" on MK... I don't follow... This is used in a lot of real world arguments as well, mainly from the left over gay rights and abortion...I was just using my right to dissent. :D As I will continue to do in the future...
Sentinel:
Sorry if it appeared that I was "telling you off" for responding to the "negative" posts, that was far from my intention, I was expressing my concern that you may take the posts personally, rather than see them for what they are "People expressing themselves".
Express away my friend :D
I find your idea intersting and with some merit. Posting on the realms and getting 100% agreement will never happen. I have replied to a couple I disagreed with and get the "That is why I never post".
Don't feel threatened by someone who posts and disagrees. So keep posting and you will find those who both agree and disagree.
Look at Mentos. Those ads were bad in the 70's, and yet they still sell those heavenly little pills to all of us addicts. Dangit, Eazy, now I'm craving a Triple Power Push Pop! Topps makes the coolest candy! I hope they'll make some of those awesome candy rings that also turn MK dials. That would be awesome...at least until you forgot and licked it and then found that it had stuck to the bottom of your Amazon Drac. No, wait, that would be a GOOD thing!
Eazy... you're a little off on what this is supposed to be. It's not a petition letter. It's positive feedback from players of a game they've acquired. I'm not going to give them ultimatums etc on how they should run the game or that they shouldn't wreck MK. It's simply letting them know that a lot of folks really like the game.
