The Dice God Clan has once again taken up the challenge to crack the code.
This replaces the typo filled old Excell sheet that oh so many have passed around.
The installer is about 3mb however it is only needed once to get all the necesary files installed, then just the updated exe or .dat file needs to be downloaded.
Just watch my signature for version updates.
Currently it is fairly accurate. within +/- 4 pts for 80% of all MK figs. The proof is in the program.
I'm still working on the formula and I believe I know what is causing the deviation in costs as they appear. Once I have established a formula more accurate I will change my signature and update the version number.
Please PM me with comments, suggestions, or errors.
We just finished the second part of a buld a figure contest in the clan. I had the memebrs use the pcaf in the first part to create the most broken figure, that would stand a shot at being actually published by wizkids. The second part was for htem to fix them, make them not broken any more. They had to use the pcaf for both parts. Thanks for an update!!
I ran a test using a 1 click 4,4,4,1 figure and tried adding SAs to it.
The simple figure with 0 range, 90 arc, was 1.070 points (basically, 1 point). Faction was "Other"
Adding Bound with 0" range was 13.670 points
adding Bound with 14" range was 13.975 points
The point is, assuming this is close enough to WK's formula, is that the range on a Bound figure doesn't even come into the picture in any meaningful way.
A full dial fig, with no SAs, costs 14.776 points
Adding Bound to the first click raises it to 24.376
adding 14" range raises it to 27.728
That's right folks, getting 14" for 11 clicks costs a mere 3 points and it has no impact on the cost of bound.
raising all the attack values to 8 costs 34.014 with 14" bound on the first click.
Here's some issues I found with the program:
Vampirism is spelled wrong
tabbing in the click value fields doesn't select the entry, for overwriting (put the cursor on speed click 1, press TAB. Normal windows behavior is to move to the next AND select the current value for overwriting.
Looks like a nice program, and it reveals some of the inner workings of the figure point system.
On the values being off, is there any chance that each faction gets a different SA price for favored SAs? Or something like that. Thus Magic Healing is cheaper for EL figs. That might impact your results.
As I said it is still a work in progress however what I have noticed is the following.
Speed SA costs are dependent on the Speed Attrib
Defense SA costs are dependent on the Defense Attrib
Attack SA costs vary as do Damage but they are often times related.
What throws off the costs of alot of units is how many times a given SA appears. Thus Conquest LE's and Chaos Orcs and the like are way off.
Thanks for the FYI on Vampirism and the Tab function. Once 3.0c is ready those will be included. I also kept forgetting to update the Text Blurb on the Stats Tab.
No Darts, they just use SA's to balance point costs. If you have read the "Conffessions of a playtester" by DemoMonkey they added multiple slots of command to Order Of Vladd because he was too powerfull for his point cost.
That's proof that WK's point system is flawed. The point system ought to factor in that valuable combos are worth more, such that a figure is valued properly, without padding the figure with useless stats.
Thus, Vladd should have cost 96 points because he's worth 96 points, not because they added Command to make him worth 96 points because the system wasn't valuing him enough.
Very true Janx. Sort of goes along with the whole 'changing the SAs changes the point value of the figures', which I believe to be true to some extent. Obviously, ML should have cost more right off the bat and so on. Again, proof that the PCF is flawed in some quite considerable ways.
considering the fact it has been acknowledged for a long time that the chaos mage is a misprint, and it even said that on the original spred sheet, the chaos mage is not a good example.
Oh, do you really think i care what you think, nukekitty?
Just making a comment you dont need to go off like that  FYI i dont have the item in question downloaded and woudln't mind seeing someones reaction to finding how off the chaos mage is with its point cost.
