Is Baran Skullcracker supposed to have a Range attack?
I just pulled Baran Skullcracker from one of my boosters. His Range value is 0, which is corroborated by the Realms' Units Section.
However, his entry in the WK Figure Gallery lists him with an 8" Range value and 1 Arrow.
Furthermore, his points value is too expensive (47 points at level 1, with 6 Speed and 8 Attack) for him to not have a Range attack.
If I'm reading his design right, a Range attack would explain him having several Berserk slots, to stop the player using him from shooting.
He is also depicted as having a pistol, being part of the Black Powder Rebellion. Given the high quality of the new Dragon's Gate figs, I'm guessing he was meant to have a Range attack.
Any official word?
I'm hearing that a lot of the new figs have misprints. Frenzy (the Canadian Champ, not the SA ;)) reported that his Myrmidon was missing its Green starting SA, while people with the new Draconum Praetor have said that the fig is missing its Dodge in its first 2 slots.
This seems to be a large outburst of ERRORS! I can say that the D.Praetor that I have does NOT have ANY clicks of Dodge. I can also say that the figure could use a click or 2 of Dodge...
He'd be perfectly useable and would make his 47 points worth it with that 8" Range. That way, both his average Attack and slow Speed would be compensated. You wouldn't need to move so close to Attack, while the Range Attack would limit the chances of your opponent being able to do a Counter-Attack, unless he himself has a Range Attack as well.

Meaning, he might actually be supposed to have an 8" Range. ;)
We should just wait for an official word with a FAQ regarding mis-prints and others for Dungeons. The official Dungeons FAQ hasn't been updated for a while.
I too have a Baran with 0 range. Does anyone out there have a Baran with 8 range? I read a review somewhere of the heros from Dragon's Gate where it listed the 8 range, but perhaps that was also based on the WK figure gallery.
trustad: Do you mean Kallacato's Hero Review for Dragon's Gate? I saw it too, but I'm guessing it was off the WK site. I posted a reply to Kallacato, but no response yet.
He'd be an OK enough Hero, fully worth the points, if he just had that 8" Range.
Ahyup, it was Kallacato's review. I feel like I'm walking in your footsteps here!:p
I agree that the range will really make Baran worth the points. I'm going to try him out in a friendly game tomorrow, so I'm going to try him as printed. If he weren't so slow I'd say he didn't need the range attack with the LI and SA combination to play with, but as he is he's going to be really good at sneaking up on rocks, stumps, and that's about it!
I'd love to try him out, though his lack of range makes me very hesitant. Without it, and given his expense and low starting stats, my gut tells me he's going to die fast. As of now, his only saving grace is his solid 3 Damage. But I still fear a counterattack with him from most MS.
If only he had that Range... Now, that would be FUN. ;) Especially with his Limited Invisibility... :D
From what I hear, most of the Elite Heroes of Dragon's Gate aren't up to snuff, with the sole exception of Ryjalon. I've seen Gora'din in action, and he was quite vulnerable in the game my friend and I played, being the first to die, despite his supposed melee prowess and high stats. I wonder what the others are like, as I've yet to see them firsthand or try them myself...
I don't know if many had noticed.. but I think the little tyke doesn't need range ...
it was meant for close combat....
even at it's starting level 1 click .. it can launch a potential 6 clicks of damage due to it's sneak attack .. though in dungeons its only limited to 5 i think.
still thats a high damage sneaky melee monster that can't be seen.
with the rear arc attack he can have a 8+1=9 attack rating... dealing 6 clicks of damage.. not too many magespawn can walk away from something like that and still dish out damage.
he is also a very versatile Chest opener...
I'm actually thinking of using him just for fun :D
war consort, there are still quite a lot of magespawn that can take it and still kick your ***. anyway i don't have a faq but, baron IS supposed to have 8" range. i might be wrong but im pretty sure that i am right.
