hey folks! the DG sculpts sucked me back in...
anyway, now we have 2.0 on the horizon, how soon before 3.0 and so on?
No, really. Dragons gate has some interesting concepts.
frenzy is horrible for rebellion.
terrify is going to be a neat little twist.
summon is useful.
and cursed figs are incredibly undercosted.
So, I really see only 1 DG unique viable in 200-300 pt rebellion games.
The Possessed Draconum.
what do you folks think?
I think the figure is perfect for 1.0 and 2.0
surge, double time. 47 points of relic equipped goodness. average relic cost 30-40 points. There is going to be a relic that makes him even more of a beatstick.
besides, he just looks so cool. and hes solonavi/draconum!
His only flaw is that he can be captured. But in the event he is, for only 47 points it leaves you with plenty to get him back
I LOVE THE SOLONAVI! So when i saw that there was going to be a solo/drac i'm like, cool. So then i saw him and i noticed it only looked like a drac and that pisses me off.
I like the Posessed Draconum as well - there's no denying that it's a beast in Unlimited games as well as Dungeons.
I also think that the 55-point Grappler is a viable figure for Unlimited play. 6" Charge, Sweep, 3 Damage, Toughness is a good package, and it picks up Quickness and Regeneration later as well.
Plus, you can scream "GRAPPLE GRAPPLE!" when you attack with him!
The PD gets my vote as the best point value piece in DG. The one I like for 2nd place is Vija of Vladd. Quickness/LI lets you move him where he's needed without having to sacrifice an attack or heal action.
Before the 2.0 rules were announced, I had Grappler and Keela Wolfslayer highly rated due to their Charge/Sweep combo, which gets good use in Conquest. Now that Conquest bites the dust and we'll have 20 actions for 2000 points, action conservation is not as important. These guys only had an attack of 10 anyway and with RLD's/Shield Golems out there, that's not a great number, but with Charge knocked down, their usefulness has dropped some. I'll stick with my Orc Captain and Rivvenguard Jaysa as they attack at 12 and 11 respectively. On top of that, they have cheap FM available, something Heroes do not, so I can keep them in escort range of the MDF's and Titans.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Possessed Drac, Grappler (which is now also known as the "Baby Skyros" ;)), Vija, Keela and Jaysari in Rebellion play. :) Those figs have lots of potential.
I'm wondering though if the Darkling Symbiote will do well. Big, tough, and packing Ram and Sweep, it should prove to be an excellent heavy unit, albeit slower than the usual tournament standards and lacking their first-strike.
Possessed Drac in by far the best unique in the set. At a close second I would have to say is Draconum Praetor. Sweep, 5 damage, large arc, only 88pts., what's not to like?(does any one know if it officially has dodge or not?)
Third, I'd say is Minitorc. That guy is just a beast for its point cost.
For large scale battles, Drakona Majoris is the best. The cheapest 14" MB in the game, and the Summon towards the end is a life saver
Honorable Mention goes to Drakona Myrmidon. It make a REALLY good Chariot passenger.
aside from the two frenzy figures, it seems to me like all the unique magespawn are good or decent in unlimited play. the ones that really stand out to me are the Drakona Majoris and Possessed Draconum. the Drakona Myrmidon is going to be great in 2.0.
