ad we were off! He rolled a 12 for startsies, and i rolled a 10, so all the objectives were way out there. I have the Erratic Winds domain, and mike has Cold Snap, so we didnt use domains...:) Mike got some neat constructed terrain, so we set up a cool wooden shield that had the BPR logo on it...which he then parked his revenant guy behind! rats! we spent a few turns just running around a little. my first roll i needed a 7 to hit his death merchant with starsdawn, and missed! Firk! From there it just got messy. His Banshee based Starsdawn, and the Axemen and the Nightblades (with Death Merchant) clashed in a furious battle. I didnt get a chance to push or surge my dwarfs, so they were at a disadvantage. My Steam Knight and Starsdawn made quick work of the Banshee, and the Knight joined the melee dance macabre.
And this is where I started to get frantic. The Revenant ability to bring back the Fell Banshee at full for a turn seemed incredibly powerful! I say seemed, because the Fell missed a few attack rolls, and the entire process of Revenanting soaked up precious actions on his team, so it was all good.
I had to get rid of his Revenant guy, and I figured, well, this IS Mage Knight Tupelo, so lets get direct and nasty. I ran Kiernan right through the center of the battle field, and Mike blew his breakaways, so noone could tie up Kiernan. He bounded back, and shot the Revenant on a critical hit for 5 damage! (3 base, +1 point blank, +1 critical!) Huzzah!
But the price was high. By the time my BPR guys had taken out the Death Merchant, a few dwarfs had died, and the Zombie Baron with the remaining Nightblades had cornered my Steam Knight and were turning it into scrap. The Nightstalker had taken my Objective, but Kiernan was able to step up and straddle the two objectives in the middle during a final attack that picked off a dying nightblade.
We called the game there, not really keeping score or time, but it would have been tough. The Zombie Baron and Kiernan were both with just one click of damage taken, so it would have been a slugfest.
We had a great time. Anybody notice that the Dwarven Axemen have big Elvis BPR belt buckles? :D
Okay, I still have some sour points...I think that Tupelo has ruined the orcs for me. I love the Warbeast, but really (read: REALLY) do not approve of the gore level of some of the warriors. Having the hands and heads and dripping blood all over the place was an ugly trend when the Gorger came out, and I do not think we need Diablo inspired graphics in this game. Sorry Grathel, but they are truly disgusting.
So, sadly enough, I traded away most of my orcs and Dark Crusaders to Mike, and got more BPR and High ELf warriors back. We are both looking froward to playing again! We will probably try some soaring next time.
Starter and Booster pack Domain / Relic pulls:
Enchanted Fuser Rifle
Erratic Winds
Dragon Crossbow (kill on 12sies)
Silvercloud (given to me in an onlne puchase)

Glad you had fun.
The Fell missed a few attack rolls? Make sure you remember that a figure brought back by Revenant lasts for one turn. After that it not only is dead, it's out of the game (i.e. no more bringing it back).
Revenant is a big ability, no need to make it even stronger ;) I predict that once the Solonavi uproar dies down, it will be the next target for the "this must be changed" cries.
RobRob, even you noticed the power or revenant when you played. I thought it was rather interesting to note that people in here really didn't talk nor say much about that ability untill actually having to play using that ability to see just how useful or powerful that ability was. were there any other abilities that you kindo of crept up on you int terms of usefulness? I thought parry was rather good and so was ruthlessness.....wow. that is one nice "hast la vista " ability... nice to know I had some solonavi healers nearby to heal them damage pushing orcs.

HEY MRDBEAU: does this give you a sense of deja vu? LMAO poor robrob is gonna have the "anti-censorship squad" comin in to flame his arse.
Rob rob I know you're not asking for censorship.... this is a joke about a thread that blew waaaaaay out of proportion at WK. started just like yours in a sense.RobRob there is a thread dedicated to this topic at WK mk forums, you should read it, some good points and many idiot points and on many pages. you made some good points, it's just a game. I'll bring ketchup squirting bottles for gorier scenes during MK matches if I want it. ;)
that gore on the Orcs is not that bad! my 4 year old knows the difference between pretend and real already (from seeign videogames, and even cartoons) how can those figures affect anyone?? they're just 1 inch high toys!
those heads on spikes are actually funny! peopel need to lighten up, kids looking at that won't become Columbine killers! if parents (yes parenting skills outweigh violence or sex portrayed in movies, games, or toys - I'm not talking about realistic, graphic sex or violence those I agree are different) teach their kids properly, these things become meaningless, of no consequence at all
okay I'm gonna hop in here and say a small piece....
I'm asking everyone.....
seriously from my experience....Do not start a debate about the "gore factor" please....
Jgclaw.... you post is an example of how it could get worse. trust me. read the wk site thread... it gets rather nasty and many have said what you said. but when you bring parents into the picture....well read that "other one" .... just know parents do teach their kids... but those exclusions you listed... should also be in the figures category... "it's just a game" doesn't cut it, because "it's just a movie " answer will come back at you.... this is a debate that will see no light at the end of the tunnel. don't get me wrong I support much of what you say :except that parenting bit (myself being one)
Yeah, the bottom line with the gore for ME is about ME...I don't like it. That's about all I was saying there. Heck, I didn't like the skull face of the centaur zombie, it just creeps me out, ya' know?
Revenant: Wow! We didnt catch that once the figure comes back, you remove it from the game.....thats handy, because it also takes away potential Necro fodder. Thanks for the tip.
Other cool points:
I loved that all of my dwarfs, which got a bad rep in 1.0, do just swell for themselves with Surge.
Shooting into combat is a guilty pleasure that those who have not played 1.0 for years just won't get until you do it. Kiernan Starsdawn is an awesome Unique, to be honest, as he can zip around and shoot people. Boy, that sounds obvious, but it really helped in the startegy. My axeman and steam knight were battling it out with the Death Merchant, and the Axeman hit for 3, then I used Kiernan to shoot for another 4 (point blank, baby!) which freed up the STeam Knight to Surge someone else! Tons of damage!
"Weak" figures being key to my BPR army. I wanted Northlanders, because eventually I will have lots of Terrain Domains, and the Weak Dwarf is awesome! I dont like the other Northlander, because he gets Frenzy, which is fun, but I like formations too much to give them up. Having different abilities on each figure means less "oh rats, i got a booster full of * figures"
Constructed Terrain is WAY COOL! I loved the level of design that went into them...I almost traded away my cool crossbow relic for the BPR wooden shield! Nifty!
Okay, okay, i am all excited, but I have another cool mini-combo. After we traded I was looking at my new charging healing elven figure with a 180 degree arc! Picture Kiernan and two other arcing fire archers flanking him, not quite in a straight line, maybe the two flankers back a bit. When the going gets rough (like these guys push or something) Kiernan can jump out to do his bound thing, and the healer can charge up into the space that he left behind, to heal as needed! very cool dynamics!
Wow, I'm happy you had such a great time RobRob. I played the other night as well, and also had a BLAST! I just love proficiences(even if I can't spell them:rolleyes: ), and I think that they are by far the best addition to the game, they add so many more options to gameplay!

I was really surprised at the different versions of figures having different abilities and totally different uses. For instance, I got a ** and a ***Steam Mauler. The *** one has Bombard and appears to be more of a range piece, where the ** one seemed like a close combat brawler. I'll have to adjust my thinking to that and pay more attention to which version my opponent is playing rather than just which figure.
The only piece of constructed terrain I can use (the only other I have is 1 of 3) was kind of difficult to put together. I found the shields can be annoying just as you did. My opponent had a bombardment figure hiding behind one that kept pummeling me.
Robrob: I understand, that your a GIRL! AHAHAHA!:D
Seriously, this change in the orcs just proves soemthing, Orcs are indeed fungus. Now facing REAL threats, i.e themselves, they have evolved into much nastier and meaner Orcs. Once the Broken Tusks CRUSH the Shadow Khans I belive The Land will be in serious trouble. On another note, I like that ketchup idea. If we ever play Rob, everytime I kill one of your figures with an Orc Ill spray ketchup everywhere while screaming
Grathel, you are killing me softly with your song...
...killing me softly.
...with your song.
My favorite opponent, Mike, likes nothing better than to taunt me with his undead and his "tentacle love" of the spine suckers....ugh....nothing worse than facing the prospect of your own figures coming back from the e-dead with that revenant ability. I guess their spirits get the "why did you let me die" shot in before they vanish.
Now, to check eBay for that "Raider's Bane" Relic...
LMAO gun... that's exactly what I thought when I saw what RobRob wrote. I was just thinking, 'oh ####...'
Glad you had some good fun RobRob. Don't listen to Grathel - I mean, have you seen a picture of him? *shudder* *vomit* Yeah, it's that bad. ;)
Yeah, you get that "Raider's Bane" relic... I hope I can get one before Origins if Grathel goes... then I know that I've got one victory in the bag if I face him... LMAO.
It was a load of fun playing with ya. I realized how much I missed MK and the new ruleset just made it all better.
The one-shot Revenant thing is cool. Didn't realize that. No biggie as the bloody Banshee couldn't hit a sleeping IRHG.... enough about that.
The game felt faster to me. More fluid. A big plus in my book. Those Dwarves of yours with their nasty Thunderblow were frightning! Surging would have worked wonderfully with them! Good fun!
I will have to breakout some more of my old school figs and try some more!
Ah, Were Magespawn will have a grand ole time under the new rules! Woohoo!
BTW Rob, my Shadow and Spinesucker are still around to give your figs some gross tenticle luvin'! Muahahahaha!
Great battle report RobRob. The most important thing was the both of you had fun playing the game. I really enjoyed my game, and am planning the next one. By the way, the first relic that I pulled was Raider's Bane. That should come in handy :)
