I just got the Legion Secret Files and was dismayed to find that there are a number of some of my favorite members that arn't there anymore. (Keep in mind, I haven't read any Legion stories post-Crisis.)
But anyway, I didn't see Bouncing Boy, Blok, or Colossus Boy. (Yes, I know his real name, but it's censored. Geez...) Can someone tell me what happened to them?
"I'm Mercury, dammit!"- Jay Garrick, regarding his hat.
and what would that be regarding colossus boy. you can just space out the word that would be censored. i m still learning about the legionnaires and i suggest picking up Legion Lost
Are you a PbP'r (Play By Poster)? Come and check out www.creationmatrix.com; we've got EVERYTHING.
Blok has not yet appeared "post-boot", though he's in a panel of JSA that shows a possible future for Mordru.
Jim Allon died early in the post-boot Legion. Argh. Do you realize that he was the longest serving member of the LSH pre-boot? Consecutivly, that is. Right from his first day to the end of the Levitz era. And do die with the stupid name "Leviathan". *sigh*.
Chuck Tayne is a tech for the Legion. I think he showed up in the control room in Secret Files. He pilots a ship called "The Bouncing Boy". Not quite the same, but not quite as goofy!
Anyway, can *anyone* tell me why "######## boy" hits the naughty word filter? It just seems like such a ######## screw up.
Alas, poor Dawnstar. She's not around anymore either from what i hear, but there's a "Shikari" with simlar powers.
(i dropped Legion a long while back too, thankfully wasn't around for Zero Hour.)
i also liked the Jacques Foccart Invisible Kid better than the Lyle Norg version, but i'm guessing he's MIA too?
Nowhere else has continuity been more destroyed by sweeping, company-wide epics than in the 30th century i believe. i still think "Crisis" was a bad idea...even as a 7 year old i could understand the multiple Earth tales.
But hey, what do i know about running a comics company, really?
~HC.
Well by issue 33 of the current run, a new creative team comes on board (rumoured to be Waid & Kitson), so things could shake up again.
Yeah, the new continuity has some swerves to it (Ferro and Invisible Kid I survive, Colo**** Boy/Leviathan and Element Lad don't), and it's certainly been a mixed bag at times, but I've been enjoying it for the most part (At least they brought Wildwire back).
Characters people have mentioned:
Tyroc - No sign of him post-boot.
Dawnstar - No sign. People keep assuring readers that Shikari isn't a Dawnstar replacement, but most of us call a spade a spade.
Invisible Kid II has shown up already, he grew up with Invisible Kid I and got his powers shortly after he did. He's not with the Legion, but has gone underground, possibly working for the U.P.
Alas no Tyroc as yet. Probably the most underused Legionaire when he existed.
I believe Shikari is Dawnstar. The tale of Dawny's people may have been considered too unPC nowadays. Lord knows we wouldn't want to disturb anyone with analogies to real history, would we? Somebody might learn something.
Is it just me or does it seem like Invisible Kid is being set up for a dirt nap? The rate this guy jumps in where angels fear to tread has got me wondering.
And I love him too, but Superboy needs to kick it back to the present. Mon El is all the tough guy you need. If everyone discovered he is Valor, that would be bigger than Superboy's presence surely.
If Tyroc comes back, they need to make his powers a bit more defined. I'm sure that's one of the main reasons he was written out. I mean, how would *you* write him, and keep the story interesting? He could be a walking Miracle Machine for all we know.
But, it could be interesting to see an Angry Young Black Man in the Legion. IIRC, with his island homeland phasing in and out of time, he would be just a few generations removed from slavery. Seeing how he interacts with the reality of the 31st century would be interesting, in the hands of a skilled writer. I don't think that aspect was every explored to its fullest (though my collection has holes during his membership, so I could be mistaken...)
Ok, I understand that Chuck Tayne is the engineer, but how did he lose his powers and what happened to his relationship with Triplicate Lass? (her current name eludes me)
Also, how did the other 2 die, if they are indeed dead?
"I'm Mercury, dammit!"- Jay Garrick, regarding his hat.
I too was a big fan of the legion. Then they sent us the clones. I hate clones you never know where'd they been. Please dc vaporize the clones and bring back the originals.
What everybody needs to understand is that a few years back DC "rebooted" the Legion.
That is to say the Zero Hour event had the effect of restarting the LSH history from scratch.
So keeping that in mind heres some answers:
tyroc,
Tyroc hasn't shown up yet.
Billy Jack,
they weren't clones.
They were in fact the Legion, but chronal duplicates that were manipulated into being by the Time TRapper in an effort to save them when Zero Hour came to be.
And of course the Time TRapper as it turned out was actually Rokk Krin gone mad....
I'm not saying it was a good story, but what they've done with the LSH since then has been great.
zaurial,
at this point Chuck Taine never has had any powers to loose, and Triplicate girls now called TRiad...she still has her other 2 bodies.
Her other body was killed by computo, trapper pre-zero hour.
Briel,
yup shikiri is Dawnstar, which shes actually been called when her names been translated or it was a nickname from Wildfire.
Can't rememeber which.
nightwingr,
Blok hasn't shown up yet, and was only dead pre-reboot.\
And I'm amongst those out there that miss Leviathan.
I prefered him with the (get ready for it) Coll-os-al boy moniker, and am still hoping that somehow Vi is the key to his return...
