Sanguine is amazing with K. Bow. For 78 points, you get a soaring figure with 10 speed, an 11 attack, 16 defence and 4 damage at 12 range. If it takes 4 damage, it gains GF with a 10 attack for 4 damage, and Lifedrain. Turn off Lifedrain though, and you can blast away without repercussions unless they have a soaring figure in base with it. This figure is used differently than most Karrudan's Bow wielders, however, in that you use it as a strong, mobile ranged attacker, and if it dies, it blows up, and if not, it's okay.
Pyre Spirit sets off after any weakened figures, or just low attack pieces. The Krugg offers more anti-swarm support, and autodamage, a 20 move, and decent attack/damage is never a bad thing. The Krugg also goes after support, Deathsingers and CPs mostly.
The Blade Golem adds in another fairly high attack, which can be improved through gang-up. He boasts solid stats and a consistent dial.
Deathsinger, I think its obvious, same goes for the CP. The Mancatcher captures, harasses, aids in gang-up, or can grab a last minute objective.
Sanguine with Kbow is the best relic combo atm.
I'd like to comment that Sanguine can't be based unless by another soarer and this gives so much offensive synergy to Sanguine wielding the Kbow whether for Kaboom shock suicide or for simply being a solid soaring ranged threat.
Right now in 2.0 there are only a few decent long ranged soaring figures:
Vithzerai
and other Vampiric Archers
There is a very good reason for this because many designs rely on inexpensive harrasment to base effective big bound or range.
I played against a Sanguine with Kbow design last night that swept the venue. It was a sight to behold in that noone was prepared for it. The only opponent that eliminated Sanguine also had most of his army dealt 4 damage!
As constructive criticism I suggest making room for formations instead of Loners. Either Harka orcs or Zombie Centaurs make excellent cheap support formations.
You have great mobility in the design but be weary of BOL!
One miscalculation. Rule of 3, Sanguine's Ranged bonus is already +2, and Karrudan's bow is +2, giving him +4 ranged combat modifier, automatically reduced to +3.
Hes still awesome though, and hes part of my Competative DC army.
Attack Bonus- A number, associated with a specific attack type, added to a warriors attack value when it makes an attack using that specific attack type. An attack bonus is not a modifier.
I looked at your army out of curiosity, rappl
Very good construction. High quality figs. Great Synergy.
Almost makes me want to pick up MK again.
I was wondering about the use of Life Drain.
After all why would you take the fig out of Ghostform, right ?
I could come up with a couple of reasons :
1- Ghostform is NOT OPTIONAL (from what I read on the pop-up menu). That means you cannot target Sanguine with RANGED Healing unless the fig gets out of its Ghostform clicks first. Life Drain is the way to do that without using a regular Healer.
2- At some point you may want to be able to block LOS with Sanguine. Protect one of your figs with Sanguine's LOS and at the same time set off the K-Bow.
I really like like that army,
an A from me.
A+ if Mooch could be worked in (*Shade instead of *MC maybe - but I like MC's so much)
I faced a Sanguine + kbow army recently and was disappointed.
My opponent moved it into position... then I would move out of arc. If I don't fear a Soaring Trix, then a soaring Sanguine is hardly a threat.
At one point, I think my opponent may have wanted Sanguine to explode. They were disappointed. Without a dedicated shockwaver and lacking the ability to DT, I simply ignored Sanguine.
7 clicks of life means it must move, push, the rest to recieve one click of dmg.... for 21+ turns to self explode. This simply did not happen in our 60 minute game. By the time it might have exploded, I had already spread my forces and controlled all the objectives. The blast, IF it could have gone off, would not have hurt more than one or two of my figs.
I think Sanguine + kbow is nice a a soaring combo. But without a dedicated shockwaver (which I personally do not recommend) there are better ways to set off a blast.
Thanks Borg. C'mon, how can you not pick up 2.0 when all of those Dark Riders prizes are out there? :)
Rob-What other figures was he using? I'm just trying to use it as a good ranged combatant, and I don't expect it to blow up. I'm thinking that I'll have him try to cover the objectives, you need those unless it's a last minute DT. Maybe after support? The nice thing about him is that he can fire into melee, with only a detriment of 1 attack if they're within 6 inches.
