Not one of my normal army builds but successfull in the Fairhaven, Traitors scenario. This was my first attempt at a summon army and I had seen variations of it here and at my venues. It faced an Orc army with Harrowblade/Rava and a bunch of mauraders, and another summon army based on Nim and Wraith.
Due to the crit misses I decided on not using any big uniques and came up with this:
***Crusader Priest
*** Dark Crusader
*** WHK
Wyvern
*** Werewolf
** Werewolf
** Werewolf
** Zombie Centuar
** Zombie Centaur
The quickness on the Centuars helped out with extra actions with quickness, werewolves surged. Hatchet Krugg doubletimed to get ranged pieces and rammed, Centuars based figs to tie them up until the wolf pack could get them. Wyvern harrassed. I used the *** dark crusader just in case I could revenat an opposing fig to counter another summon army and a little redundancy in bringing back figs or in case of BOL or Kaboom I could split them up until I could get to the BOL user. I did not get much of a chance to summon or rev as I only lost a werewolf 1st match and centuar in the 2nd match. So the two crusaders were kind of wasted. Now I may modify it a bit as I want to add Zatagra and put in Sydin and bonestaff and maybe put shades in instead of the centuars but I will need to get some. So I will look at that. Over all I was pleased with this army. What would be my other big concerns with this army? A lack of range would be one although four of the nine have stealth so terrain may help out against this. As well as the domains to cancel mountain pass and hinder range. LMK thanks
I like your army! It is similar to mine that I am trying to make, but I cannot get hold of any werewolves. The only thing I can see that could hurt you are domains that stop surge and double time, like Mountain Pass. But you already considered that. I for myself would take something else instead of the Crusader priest. For some reason I dont like her, may be because she gives such an easy target to harassers. Shades or Zombie Centaurs? Tough decision. Both have their advantages, Shades are cheaper and they are MS (summon), Centaurs are stronger and dont take damage from double-timing. I for myself would go with the shades, but Centaurs are good as well. Range is not really a lack in your army, cause you got stealth units and harassers will take care of that.
a few things:
1.) the crusader priests are male.
2.) I wouldn't put in Zatagra....he can't surge into his 12 attack and WM
3.) I'd add in Enhancer Nim and the Wraith....wraith is 61 points packs stealth, 12 speed, 12 attack, a lot of clicks of 4 damage and an 8" range........Nim gains summon on his second-fourth clicks, is magic immune, and is 66 points so he can summon back the Wraith.
my version would look like this
Wraith 61
Nim 66
*** Crusader Priest 44
** werewolf x3 84
Wyvern 44
TOTAL: 299 points
This army has 4 good stealth units, a good harraser in the Wyvern, and decent ranged units in Nim and the Crusader Priest.
Thanks Guys, My first match was vs Nim/wraith build, I would like to keep WHK so what about this(when I get Nim):
Enhancer Nim 66
Wraith 61
Wyvern 44
Podo 3
*** WHK 40
*** Werewolf 30
** Werewolf 28
** Werewolf 28
300 even
Or if I don't a Nim
***Crusader Priest 44
*** WHK 40
Wyvern 44
*** Werewolf 30
** Werewolf 28
** Werewolf 28
** Zombie Centuar 28
** Zombie Centaur 28
*** Shade 20
** Imp 7
Podo 3
Even 300 pts
First one give me a bit of range but I think I like the last one as it gives me 11 pieces, three quickness pieces, three stealth, some flight, everything revolves around keeping the crusader out of harms way in the back. I would be screwed vs BOL and I can't cancel range and or mountain pass and can't cancel as I would lose alot of effectiveness of my forces.
Well for starters, so you don't need to worry about BoL, I'd throw in a Crystal Protector for invisible healing. Also, if you have any weaker shades or werewolves, I'd throw them in for their tougher counterparts as numbers usually make up for power. If you go with either army, I would still try and keep Wraith if its only there to attack die and be revenented back once. And finally, try working in a *** War Impaler, then you'll have some range if surge is canceled.
So how about this:
***Crusader Priest 44
**Crystal Protector 15
Wraith 61
***WHK 40
***War Impaler(or Wyvern) 44
3x **Werewolves 84
*Shade 12
Total: 300
Here you have some emergency range in the wraith and impaler, but if Mountain Pass is played, try to wear down your opponent with wave after wave of werewolves and Wyvern if you use it.
