All you former case buyers: what are you going to do with all the money you save?!
With the new announcement, DR will be the last expansion I ever buy a full case of, it's sad, but whatever, I'm over it.
So now I'll be able to buy other stuff or even(gasp!) save my money!
Seriously, thank you wizkids for not making me feel like I'm going to want so much.
So anyway, with my money, I'll be:
Buying more indy comics from artists like James Kochalka and Jeffrey Brown! Seriously people, Mage Knight was a big battle, but Monkey Vs. Robot is the ultimate conflict!
Buying more music!
Saving up me money for non-gaming things! School books, awesome stuff, woo!
Buying other games! I'm excited to try out other games now, lighter than I have MK. I may actually buy some heroclix since their figures, even after tournament uselessness has happened, will still be cool, I mean come on, what's cooler than a Kingdom Come Superman?
So what are you going to spend your money on now that you don't feel you have to spend so much on MK anymore?
P.S. This thread is serious, I'm not being sarcastic here, I really am genuine in being happy with this announcement.
umm, I'll be buying more cases!!! Saving no money!!
I need to build up my 2.0 stuff for those huge Conquest games I love to play, and the guys who play at my venue love to play!!
I won't get rid of my old, and will still use them at the Unrestricted Events (if your venue doesn't run these - ASK them, they can let you use 1.0 in them and are very easy for the venue to set up!), but I'll be building up my new collection just as planned before!
Hopefully some games that are from companies that haven't banned figures, yet. Oh...I already do...oops.
Yeah, unfortunately I don't see people wanting to purchase whole cases as much anymore with the new plans in place as I would expect to see them look for only the figures they want to play at tournaments, so as not to take the hit when their figures are no longer tournament legal in regular events.
Saving for a wedding and a honeymoon in Rome (my six semesters of Latin may come in handy when going to all those cool sites!)
Buying games like: Game of Thrones CCG, warmachine, D&D minis, star wars miniatures game (when it comes out), lord of the rings miniatures (not collectible, but metal), some MK, but nothing like the thousands of figures I already have.
I may also buy an iPod at some point.
This is not the most devastating thing ever, but it finally gave me a way to feel like I should stop spending as much on WKs and start helping out other games.
It's not silent. It's an attempt for people to emphasize how they are going to vote with their wallets - and in what manner.
I wonder how many will switch to Star Wars CMG, or DDMG, or Warmachine, or Warhammer, or Warlord, CAV, 40K, Magic, etc? There are far too many good games out there for a company to remain complacent - and no company should be taking steps to drive away existing fanbase.
Looks like my decision to not pick up some Topps stock was a good one. :p
I'm just wondering what other people will spend their money on now that they won't be buying as much Mage Knight. I think it's obvious that others are going to back off on buying as well.
Seriously, garou put it well though: it is a discussion place to show exactly where the money goes that Wizkids would have gotten...I don't know how else better to get their attention anyway.

why not buy the new product?? why spend the money elsewhere? If I know the figs I'm buying now are good for
2 1/2 to 3 years I'm still happy buying them, plus, in fun games and Unrestricted Events, I'll use all my 1.0 figures anyway.
I don't get this whole, I won't buy as much thing...why?
I'm no expert but I would think every game involving strategy where new sets/rules/pieces come out, eventually old stuff must be nerfed or changed or banned or rotated or whatever, otherwise they'd run out of new pieces to make and the game would die of stagnation anyway!
This is flat out so those of you who play in their venues and convention competion will continue to buy as much of their new stuff as possible. It's a great game! But never mistake the bottom line.
Well maybe people will not be spending as much as they thought on DDMG. I understand that there was an uproar with players about a plan to significantly raise the prices of future DDMG boosters. ;) Seriously though, you would think one would want to spend more on 2.0, not less, so that they can compete with the new 2.0 players. A tournament player has to take advantage of all of the options available with Dark Riders. While 1.0 figures will be useable in unrestricted tournaments, this change in approved play levels the playing field with new players. After talking with new players, I understand the need for this change.
I haven't really given this much thought yet. I was pre-ordering a case of Dark Riders but I just wrote and cancelled that order. So I don't really know. I might try Warhammer, but GW, in the US, has been messing up almost as bad as Wizkids lately.
Assuming that I want to continue in the same vein as Mage Knight does anyone have any suggestions?
Maybe I'll wait and spend the money on the Warcraft MMO.

Ah, but WoTC stepped in and said that there would be no price increase - though whether the price increase was a rumor that got out of hand, or if WoTC caved to consumer pressure, is unclear.
Though with the Giants set, I could bear a price increase. I could have for Archfiends, if some of the figs were the same size as the Red Dragon (and you got one in every booster).
Your new sig is funny, Garou. Only problem is it's not Weisman's company anymore. I wonder how Topps will enjoy the poop hitting the fan at terminal velocity.:p
