A Tournament Worthy(and rotation friendly) Vithzerai Army
In lieu of me pulling the two-headed juggernaut, I decided I'd go ahead and try to make a competive 300pts. army with him. Frankly, I think I was fairly successful. Here it is:
Domains-
Clear Skies:
I'm spending 214pts. in a ranged figure. I'd be stupid not to pack it.
Smoke and Fog:
Back up counter. 18" attack range is still very good.
Rain and Mud:
It protects Vith from surging, while balancing the speed of the playfield. The Centaurs aren't hindered much, as they are mainly just going to be swarming and dealing shake-off. Plus the Centaur Zombie*** can still charge.
Overview-
The main concept of this army is to harass with the Centaurs(and Flea), while Vith picks off the main threats. The main bane of Vith, as you all know, is Ghost Form, Limited Invisiblity, and Magic Immunity. I feel that this army does a fairly good job at combating all of those. The speed and autodamage of the Centaur is more than enough to hinder those immune to Vith long enough for him to take out everything else. In addition, there are 0 figures with GF and Toughness/Invuln., and there are only two with MI and toughness. The Rain and Mud basically protects Vith from everything, as Vith can take out anything if given first strike. Plus the reduction in speed helps prevent him from being swarmed. In the chance that I can't use Rain and Mud, only Caldera is immune to both shake-off and Vith's range and a soarer. One on one, Vith beats Caldera 9 time out of 10, even when she surges, though I'd rather it not come down to that. This army also has little trouble against the fire fly, even without Rain and Mud. My centuars are able to deliver shake-off well before he gets into surging range of Vith. I should be able to get off multiple shake-offs, though three damage is all that is need to give Vith the upper hand. Vith can take a KaBoom and still keep bound, and the army is fast enough to spread itself out and minimize casualities.
It's a nice idea, but something you'd have to play to try out first. The banes that you mentioned can seriously make or break the army, depending on if they manage to take out your Zombie Centaurs. (Has anybody else noticed that we all call them Centaur Zombies, but they're really zombie centaurs? Sudden confusing moment the other day when looking at the figure base.)
Can you imagine how that would look in real life though, vith with a big helm? seriously silly stuff.
Sorry for the tangent, but I still think I'm responsible for everyone calling them Centaur Zombies, mwahahaha, just my plan for making people hate them more!
