First of all, there is no revenant engine. As it was this designs intention. This can be both a static (sit on objective) design or an entirely offensive destroy all that still utters breath design.
Its going to be difficult to use FBU's with the new rotation because they are all so expensive and winning relies on objectives rather than kills.
The easiest way to balance the incredible cost of an FBU is with Orc Marauders. I prefer* and *** because the * version has a berserk slot with 8 attack and 3 damage. The *** version costs 20 points and can deal up to 5 damage with reckless and an 8 attack.
Designate a formation to engage support (an opponents revenant/summon engine, healers, inexpensive harrassment)
while Varatrix goes after the main offensive oppossition.
Try to keep the other formation of Marauders sitting tight on the closest objective. Using Varatrix and the offensive formation to focus the battle on the center objective close together.
Trix with Magestone Shield needs no explaination. If you have used this relic/unique combo or have played against it (especially in post rotation games because auto damage is rare) you understand how powerful it can be.
11 soar movement, 15 attack with Counterattack, 21 Defense with Ghostform,5 damage with Crushing Blow and Armor Piercing.
By far, one of the most lethal and effective combo's in the game. The problem is it costs so many points (192 to be exact).
So support must be well picked.
The Marauders in general, are going to be less costly than an opponents individual support so sacrificing them is ok. The main idea behind so many marauders is to not only protect Trix from problem combo's like Blade of Dominance/Kossak but also to keep objectives occupied and force the threat on an opponent of possibly claiming his/her objectives while Varatrix takes out key offensive threats.
The key to doing this is to force the illusion that Varatrix can not be simply ignored nor can the marauder swarm that controls objectives.
My suggestion of domains is the usual counter domains.
Clear skies,Open terrain, etc... it depends on the local meta really. There are numerous domains that work well with this design, whether you want a natural anti kaboom (any domain that limits movement or restricts doubletiming) or an anti revenant/summon domain such as Blasted Lands.
I really like it. Until Scorch Hammer, I think that the MS Shield is the best relic for Trix. I think you should, however, take out at least 2 Orcs in favor of something with a bit more teeth. You could take out the 3 *, because of low attack and frenzy on their good click, I prefer the ** for Toughness and *** Reckless. Add in a ***Zombie Centaur (charge, Shake-off, 9 attack). Then ubgrade the remaining * to ** for a toughness harasser.
the point of the *Marauder formation isn't to be offensive, its to maintain the objective curve. It can be offensive but you don't win games by being offensive.
Well, in a fashion you do, but... (enter fancy rhetoric that never really gets anywhere)
see, thats where I'm coming from.
4 Orc Marauders* is twice as intimidating as a Zombie Centaur*** and an
Orc Marauder**
Besides, the army just looks cool.
I suggest you guys put it together and see for yourself.
It sits on my bookshelf atm
