Between Trix (now with sweep and effective venom that ignores front arc and works on friendly figures, and the option of a one-time 6-damage ranged attack) and the Gyre, swarm won't be a problem. The Gyre provides a solid 10-3 after surging, with flight for hindering etc. The ZC has decent attack/damage, charge, DT for free, and Shake-off. The DC is Revenant. The CP heals.
In the beginnig of the game, if not against a swarm, threaten with that 6-damage shot with Trix. If that isn't necessary, don't have him soar.
Let him get into the thick of things, with effective venom it shouldn't be a problem.
Have the Gyre and ZC act as cover and take out any auto-damage.
If I'm not mistaken the Scorch Hammer does not provide the Venom special ability, just Sweep. You are thinking of the Draconum relic which provides both Venom and Parry.
I know, but it says "At the beginning of your command phase, deal one damage to each figure in base contact with the weilder". It's effectively Venom :) .
