The 2nd formations goes in front and charge the enemy, giving the two archers of F1 the oppurtunity to shoot the enemy with arcing fire.
The war priestess can get out of the formation when one of the cavalry is hurt and the two archers can work on their own.
Gervin the loyal is behind untill the cavalry is broken, than he comes to deal with the rest covered by the ranged figs.
I have only one elven lord left: Rock griffin ** and some KI troops.
I played with this army against an AG-AE army and won with only losing my cavalry.
formation 2 seems a bit slow .
why don't you put in a standard bearer *11 points ,so the formation moves at 12'' speed.
just downgrade Gervin to level 3 at 40 points
I agree, in order for the second formation to provide adequate cover for the ranged formation, they need alot more mobility. Downgrade Gervin one level and add in the Standard Bearer* to speed the movement. Once you are far enough ahead, your chargers can break out of the formation and do what they were meant for while Kieren stays back and does what he was meant for.
I think keeping Kierin in a formation puts a big hamper on his Bound. I would rather play him alone, lose the Priestess and other archer, delevel Gervin, and add in a *** Faith Healer, a * Standard Bearer and that Griffon. All the KI can move in formation, and the Griffon can keep Kierin out of trouble by either performing basic bodyguard duties (CHARGE!) or be flyig Kierin's broken body over to the Faith Healer. If you really want to protect him, have Gervin hang out with them too. Heck, have the Griffon carry around Gervin.
Another nice thing to add when using Kierin is a Silvercloud. Really helps against soarers you need to take down for your mounts to chew up (that and some extra speed and attack isn't that bad either).
Yeah, but that isn't 12 inches:D. I'd still lose the Master Archer though. Two cheap melee figs would be a much better deal. Just keep the ranged attacking focused on Kierin, and keep him out of any formations. I still think the ** Griffon would be an excellent addition if you can fit him in though.
yeah master archer non-sense, don't bother, throw in some melee figs, maybe some tie ups... a shade some vols maybe an imp or two... perhaps the jewish milkshake
I have a standard bearer*, but with the double timing the cavalry gain 12 speed (6 inch charge). And for Kierin in the formation. I've played with it before and when I needed his bound I just broke the formation. And with arcing fire he can shoot first the hard ones with +2 attack from master archer. And when the formations breaks war priestess can heal wounded figs and can throw knifes (6 range) to help the cavalry.
