blytzd suggested this a while ago. Since there are still those markers in the boosters, but the click bases donīt really lend themselves to using thos anymore, I think this question has merit.
i don't mark my figs except with one exeception the 666 tag on my wraith and the orange "SPECIAL" sticker that i put on all my Highlander vehicles and mechs'
For the figures I use regularly, I mark 'em with a light dollop of correction fluid under the dial. Then I press my finger against it to leave my finger print.
I generaly use small stickers I purchase. Recently I found soft ID rings in various colors which slip over the base. When I am playing a game with someone I use these to distinguish my figs from my opponants. :D
I usually smash the figure on top to pieces and then sharpie in all the numbers on the dial so I know noone is gonna steal them. Actualy that seems like the only way for your stuff to not be stolen. Stickers arent really too hard to remove and one of ther kids I know used to sharpie in a certain piece of the figures so he would know that they were his, however a dirty theif saw this and did the same thing to all his figs and then jacked some of my friends so there was really no way to prove it was stolen...f :hspeed: ck theives.
I do the same thing as Janx. I use a silver Sharpie that I keep in my army box. I simply put a small mark on the bottom.
This is especially useful in Sealed events, or in high pointed matches. In Sealed I mark my figures immediately since it's easy to forget which figures belong to each player. On larger battles it's very useful to figure out what you came with.
I don't mark my figs. The venue I am at doesn't have thieves (yet thank God) so we don't need to mark them. However, when I go to other venues I print off a report card of the items I have brought with me, and I keep my things by me the entire time. I have never had anything stolen, and I don't plan on it.
GmanSix, it really doesn't have to be about someone stealing your figs. I do it just to know which ones are mine. This is especially useful since I've got 2 boys that play MK and we have a tendency to use each other's figures on a regular basis.
I bought a pack of little sticker "dots" (mine are blue) that I put on the bottom of mine. Nobody else in my area does that, so it's easy to tell mine apart. Plus, the dots are easy enough to remove, without falling off on their own; this makes trading easier, because they can easily be given to someone else without damaging the figure or making it a pain to remove the sticker :d
While I don't mark mine now (far too lazy, and it hurts their trade value) I'm thinking about buying some adhesive paper that you can run through your printer and printing off a few pages with my name on it.
Oh, and to those who use the ID rings, they're not tournament legal since they modify the base. Too bad, or I'd use 'em too
