I don't think I ever posted my favorite hero team to play. Even though Dungeons only had heroes, I still think of this as an all orc team. The team may not be so hot in an ultra competitive environment, but I don't play in those, so take it as you will.
Originally played as:
Maboc the Bully lvl1 24pts (your clasic Fighter)
Shaman Og lvl1 24pts (your clasic Cleric)
Ember lvl2 30pts (your clasic Magic User)
Phreggs lvl1 22pts (your clasic Thief)
exaclty 100 points
My evolution to lower points was because I discovered that BA on Og can make or break the team. I originally had ember at lvl2 and would level him up first to get on his quickness slot. This would effectivly give me 5 actions each turn relativly early in the game... which is also a big thing. Embers 12 range also really means he can hang out in safe areas and slowly go up levels with less impact to the team... he is definatly a later game threat than an earlier game threat.
My basic strategy is to keep the group together, duh, but use maboc to take the lead to get phreggs to a chest as quickly as possible. If I need serious healing I will use my first 50pts to bring up the fig that needs it the most, otherwise I like to use my first two lvl ups to take Og to lvl3 and maboc up to lvl2. The force march, while it does not seem much has made a huge difference in how some of my actions were taken. After that I use my lvl ups to heal and get phreggs into dodge and start bringing up ember.
Ember is a funny and rock solid figure. I have used his Flame Lightning many times in the crowded dungeon corridors to soften up the enemy before Maboc goes in and takes them out.
One funny "cheat" about using Ember is Lone Wolf scenarios. In Lone Wolf, you are not allowed to attack the other Hero directly, but if Ember shoots a Mage Spawn that the other Hero is fighting from 12 squares away and that Hero happens to gets splashed? Well, "dem's da breaks!
Dan, good team! Maboc is a brute and Phreggs has always been a favorite! Of course I only play orcs in dungeons as well. My favorite team is Nabar, Trollkiller, Patchwork, Phreggs and Og all at lvl1 I think it is 149. I hardly ever play 100pts. My team is a powerhouse! with three fighters they take down the spawn quickly! I try and lvl up Nabar and Trollkiller first the others as needed. Good 100pt team I will have to try it next time I play 100pts. Gotta love the orcies!
Orc_heroes....I have to assume that if you are starting 149 points or so, that you are not using yellow tokens? I feel badly for the Mage Spawn if you are....Must be a cakewalk!
No Rob there are a few yellows in there, of course my opponents move the tokens towards me thinking to hurt me but all they do is give me points! Once in awhile I may wind up getting a blue or red right off the bat so I have to kill quickly and lvl up the injured hero! :D
I love the Orcs as well. What I really like about them is the fact that they get pissed off after a few clicks and can really pack a punch when counter attacking. I have a 100 point group that rarely gets into trouble even when facing red tolkens right at the start. Patchwork is my ceterpiece. He does 3 clicks of damage at the start along with venom. He has an 8 inch rage which becomes deadly when coupled with my healer with magic enhancing, Barber Hurgg. That means that at a range Patchwork is doing 5 clicks of damage at first level. And even if he misses he still does a click of damage due to venom. My thief is Phreggs. For the points, few thieves are in his class. And, to finish it off I put in Maboc the Bully for my back up fighter. I don't think that there is a better combination in the game. I have 75 different heroes and I like the playability and strength of this combination better than any other I can come up with.
I use Patchwork as my front runner followed by Barber Hurgg. Those two can usually handle themselves. When, after I clear out some of the rooms, Phreggs starts to wonder a little picking up chests. I use Maboc the Bully to support Phreggs and to make sure the back of Hurgg is safe.
I played that exact same team last night kris. They went up against Khoura, Trollkiller, Daren Brakensword, and Zenephret. Good game until Patchwork got brave and started soloing spawn. He got isolated and then had his green melon chopped off.
