INPUT NEEDED! Trying to make a Galeshi Sorcerer army!
Alright, I love the Galeshi Sorcerer, let's just put that out there right now. His abilities are nothing fantastic, but they are fun and his scuplt is awesome. So I was playing around with for awhile using him with the BoL. Being a soaring figure, I thought it could be quite annoying to have him soaring around shooting anywhere he wants.
But then I knew I'd never play it in 300 points, too risky for the point investment. So I went browsing and saw a good idea: use the wand of reanimation on him!
So that's where I started. I know even when flying he's vulnerable to getting shot up, so then I decided to grab one of my favorite relics from dark riders: Inferno.
From there I just went with my strengths to fill the army up, so here it is:
Galeshi Sorcerer-91
Wand of Reanimation-23
Inferno-35
4x*Zombie Centaur-24 each
**Zombie Centaur-28
*Pain Wrath-27
Numbers have always been my friend, so I've always been very tentative about playing a figure worth more than a 100 points, so my always-loved Centaurs are making an appearance to boost my swarm ability, combined with the Wand of Reanimation, it's pretty awesome.
I know it's not perfect, but right now it's at 300 and is a lot of fun. I'm not sure what exactly I'd play for domains, so that'd be good to figure out too.
Does book of nightmares really do that well? I'm not expexting to be fighting a Vextha/Valkalis, so I'd rather just do four damage to them with the +1 with wand of reanimation.
JG:Everyone always says "watch out for threadcutter" now whenever you mention using three or more zombie centaurs! I don't see what the big deal is. No matter who you put it on(excluding rider unique/LE's) is going to be too slow to catch any of the centaurs, so I should have a reasonable chance at beating the snot out of whatever is holding it with the sorcerer, or hey, if it's a cheap LE for insurance against swarms, I'm not opposed to surging with three centaurs in one turn to do 9 damage to it. I guess I'm just not as intimidated as other people are by the relic!
Actually, that army isn't half bad for what your trying to do. I love how you threw in snynergetic harrasers to go with your Carpet Beater. You'll have a little trouble with MC/C, but if you keep your Sorcerer on the ground, you can tie up your opponent's mounts with the Centaurs, indefinetly to boot. This is a well built and rounded army, and I think it would do decently enough as long as you aren't hit by some range obliterator, or way too much cavalry fro your Centaur to handle.
I like the Sorc too and the Centaurs make a great combo!!!
Anyway I expect to see Sanguine with the Fang Shield or K bow. Also MB at soaring could hurt you too. So Domains to include would be Downpour...I didn't notice any ealing for your army but I did see a reanimation engine so no need for healing so play Famine. It can really anger your opponent. Other than that I don't see a way to help you. I hope my assisstance helps you at least a lil bit Hambut.
If you want to make the Sorcerer nigh untouchable from attacks, stick the Inferno Relic and the Wand of Parrying. He can be targeted by normal and bow Ranged attacks, a effective 22 Defense against wand ranged attacks, a 20-23 defense against close combat attacks, a 10 attack(13 with wand ranged), and a better-then-Venom Auto-Damage capability for 153 points! And you can still have room to stick an item in the damage slot if you want.
The greater poitns about Book of Nightmares is that fact that 1) your range damage becomes at least 5, and increases to 6 on the Sorcerer's 3 last clicks before demo. 2) You ignore terrain and figure bases for LoS (ok, not that important with Soaring, btu still useful) 3) The targets are considered in clear terrain (so no Stealth for your targets or Nature's Ally or Aquatic), 4) You gain Terrify (which helps a bit against harassement.) 5) it raises yopur :wand: attack by 1, which is always a nice thing to do.
Really how could you not like that thing on your Sorcerer?
I like this army alot, its like an evil wizard and his band of freshly made undead! The fact that it looks playable adds to the charm. I think the only game where you'd have to worry about thread cutter is in conquest, not 300 pt games, thread cutter is a gamble because your opponent may or may not be using mutiple figs with the same name. I think the death domain could give you a hard time, but again, the key word is "could". Overall, cool army!
