For this army range will kill me easily. The whole thing about the Apoc side i think is to do as much damage as possible and attack as many times as possible.
BPR and EF
formation
Prophet-Priest Tremelen 92 w/ Ghostly Elixir 10
***Amazon Scout 30
***Troll Smasher 60
This army is good at both range and close combat. The Amazon Scout will be the fig that will seal the objectives. Good range with the mouted bound and the Prophet.
Sooo which army do you like better?? (if any)
Please give suggestions too.
What do you think of both of them too??
Well I love the use of the Wolfkin, some of my favorite figures out there, they're very versatile. Both Cloud Warriors are great, I love them as much as the Wolfkin. Now, what you have there are great chep powerful harassers. Two have soaring for threats that soar and take advantage of how you don't have range. Then you have a Freeholder, these are great figures, healing and charge, once agin versitile. I like this army and it has much potential.
I have to get some sleep tonight, unlike all weekend, so i'll review it tomarrow.
Your Apoc army lacks the high speed needed to prevent your opponent from sealing the objectives, so I would recommend dropping the Cloud Warriors, and that gives you 106 points, enough for a great cavalry unit and just enough for a EF Sky Dragon and *Honorguard or **Dragon Priest. Both options would provide you with fast MC/C, one with higher damage, one a decent range and Mage Blast. Next, even though I love the Orc Wolfkins, after surging their attacks are low, so I would downgrade the **Wolfkin to a weak and chane the ** to the **Orc Violator (Shadow Khan). Even though it looses Lurk, the Violator still has a 10 attack, charge, and crushing blow. So the final would look like:
Formation:
4 * Orc Wolfkin 120
** Orc Violator 41
Loners
EF Sky Dragon riden by **Dragon Priest or *Honorguard 106
** Freehold Sorceress 32
= 299
Now for your EF/BPR,
Speed, numbers, and and high defenses will work wonders. Tremelen should be great. I would recommend changing the ***Amazon Scout to 2 weak ones. Also the Sky dragon is just to good to overlook, so downgrade the Troll smasher to a weak and swap out the Griffen. Finally I think that Magestone Bracers would be better on Tremelen than Ghostly Elixer. For strategy, let the scouts take the center objective and the Dragon and priest take yours, then just run like crazy, using your healers to stay alive, and if needed use Tremelen's mage blast, the troll's raw power, and the cavalry unit's MC/C to fight back. So the final looks like:
Tremelen w/ Magestone Bracers 102
*Troll Smasher 48
***Dragon Priest on EF Sky Dragon 112
2 *Amazon Scouts 34
=296
Looks great whelpman. Thanks for the help.
Darkness thanks for the help too.
I was thinking that also a swarm would help the Apoc side, right?
Anyone else??
Personally, I think this scenario is inherently stacked on the Freeholds/BPR side. It would be such a simple thing to seal the center objective on turn 2 using some leadership figure, and another figure that can DT the distance needed (anyone with a 10 inch speed). A Horned Stag with the help of a Leadership figure could seal the cewnter objective by turn two, and if you move some other cheap LE onto your objective it can't be contested before turn 3 when you seal that one. For the Apoc to win this scenario, they need ot OBLITERATE the opposition.
Skydragons mounted with some big melee piece (Pike of instance) would probably be the best idea for the Apoc. Also, a Centaur Swarm that is capable of getting to the center objective fast might do ok too. In general, the Apoc figures get the short end of the tick by losing great SubFaction abilities like Lurk, Reckless, and Revennant.
Anyway, onto your armies.
The first one isn't all that bad. If you keep your WM rolls high enough you should do just fine, but as a little insurance, I would definetly include a Cavalry unit. A nice bounding one would do fine. Anything with MB would do.
Your second army does have potential. If you don't plan on taking your objectives and sealing them early, it could work. Just tank through your opponent and stay alive. You may want to downgrade the Amazon, and get yourself a Sky Dragon though.
[edit]Yeah, whelpman pretty much covered what I said already :).
