alright guys i made a mask of mystery army and it worked out all right except for one figure which is my ranged warrior, i wasnt too happy with it but i normally am in any other army.
here was my build
Horned hunter =65
Mask of Mystery=40
Freehold warrior=38
Orc wolfkinx2=68
Possessed draconum=47
crystal protector=13
and the 29 point revenant figure with pathfinder and stealth( i forgot her name offhand)
now it worked pretty good being able to jump from the two peices of terrain i placed on the board, when i warped with my army i would surge the dracomun to capture any storm mauls, BOL, or anything big thta needed to be taken down, or he just hit something for 4. He is strong and a great peice for the army.
Now horned hu8nter is a beast haveing a 12 inch movement with the mask, ram, leadership, and 3 damage for 5 clicks, he always gets into the fray pretty quick. The wolfkins do alot of damage on their 2nd clicks with dodge counter attack and weapon master but what really makes them good is their faction toughness and the reason why i use them.
im not happy about the cp or the freehold warrior because the cp really never gets into the fray due to how fast my army gets into combat, and freehold warrior is good with bound 12 inch range and stealth but i cant handle his damage or his glass jaw so i want to get rid of 52 points of my army and i need some help putting in a decent ranged warrior that can dish some damage.
well I like the ** shadow servant from Dragonsgate
it has:
:boot: 10-nimble(perfect for snipering)
:sword: 10-magic blast
:defense: 16-terrify
 12"
:starburst 2-gain's magic confusion after a few cliks
MoM is all about terrain placement or the proper use of domains. The key is to get your hindering or concealing terrain placed in strategic locations. I prefer concealing as it does not slow down movement when you want to move to attack.
I played a MoM army this weekend (in a higher pointed match) and had my arse handed to me. It wasn't even close. In one match my terrain placement got nerfed, so I could not get in a first strike which was needed (my opponent knew exactly what I was doing). In one match where I had really good terrain placement I had a chance at a big strike my first action, but then most of my figures including the MoM wielder was in the middle of my opponent's hornets nest. We exchanged blows, but I ended up on the wrong side.
Bottomline, it's a good relic, but there are some risks involved. I think the best use is to put it on the cheapest unique that can carry it and use it as a transport system.
i was doing it on shael on a ef sky dragon with some freeholders *, using ranged combat formations, porting in, shooting, then next turn pushing shael for no dammage, and porting out... worked amazingly well, till they nerfed ranged :(
Well, the ideal way to play MoM would probably to pick eitehr range OR close combat, and msotly stick with it. anotehr important thing would be to make sure you can transport EVERYTHING with your MoM, so don't hesitate to spend more points on better figures, because they won't be any good to you if they are stuck far far away from the rest of your army.
I also agree with the previous statement about using the cheapest possible weilder for MoM. You would probably be better served with one of the unique Freeholder Riders of Dark Riders (Fireflower, Lady Ciara, Shale). This way, you can either move more troops by mounting the rider on something, or have better troops by having more spare points.
