Chitterling 74
cloak of the dervish 37
rahban's shield 29
Hivemaster 78
cloak of the dervish 37
magestone bracers 10
inferno 35
Domains: Tezla's spirit (counter attack, for you) , pestilence (enemys take damage, you don't), war (no formations), maybe storm gale (anti-range, duh).
Have the chitterling and "H-bomb" walk up to and sit on two of the three objectives, then wait.
Not a bad idea... I'd switch the relics/item combos on the two figs though, since the -2 attack on ribahn's shield would be less important on hivemaster... I'd say that crushing blow is the big threat to this strategy.
It's very clever (and I'm considering running my own variation - however, I'm thinking of running Black Thorn and a Caldera version...) but it does look pretty boring to play on both sides of the mat. Not a good argument against running it competetively, but to each his own...
I agree that crushing blow (and pierce - but you've already considered the problem of range) could be your enemy. Anti-surging domains might be helpful for you, but you might consider some relic items that further enhance defense even more than you have. Those cloaks are neat, but with invul already on, cranking up the defense even higher might net better overall rewards. And the cloaks chew up a lot of points at 37 a piece.
Yeah, good idea on the relic switching, the problem with crushing blowers is they still must hit those high defences (19-20 def).I still think you should be able to dodge crushing blow and pierce attacks, it just makes sense.
19-20 defense isnt worth much when you dont have anything to help your figure out. The opponent can just gang up on you, while the other unit doesnt have the means to support.
You will soon have to move off one of the objectives, unless you want to let one of them deal with 300 points of units, leaving two objectives to the opponent, which ruins your whole strategy.
Id say you need around a 23 defense to make this viable.
Id put pain on one of the two, so u can get a weapons master to actually do damage and sweep all the swarmers, plus u can get a full 360 degree arc for venom.
Neat setup, but yeah, crushing blow will give you big problems, especially when a tiny Hakra can blow you away with a lucky roll. one or two things I"d suggest would be things like a potion of vitality or (if you don't mind the speed problem) would be Mountain's heart. They can't pierce or crush your invulnerability, allowing you to soak up a bit more damage. Pain, if available, is a great way to use Hivemasters 0 damage to your advantage. Also, the gatekeeper or Tezla's spirit domain can make objective holding much more lucrative.
