lol... j/k... it helps because if any out-of-range enemies would be forced into the firing figure's range on the next turn, then that figure wouldn't have to move, then push to shoot it on the next turn, but instead could shoot it on the next turn when it is in range using Overwatch...
hope that's clear enough... it's prolly a bit sketchy :p
1. You can still make a ranged combat attack even if a figure is in base contact with you. (i think there's a thread about this)
2. You can attack twice in a single turn. Overwatch in previous turn, resolve the attack the next turn and also push attack that turn.
3. You could lay in wait for a person to jump onto an objective.
4. You could use overwatch, then another figure's ability like strong flier, magic levitation, or mask of mysteries to move the figure then resolve the attack. Using the mask of mysteries this way will allow you to punish a figure by attacking twice, although the other abilities would prevent you from pushing to make the second attack.

I hope that helps.
Actually... this is not quite right.
You resolve overwatch during your command phase, if you use mask of mysteries, strong flier, etc... then you have already "skipped" your command phase and thus can no longer resolve overwatch.
Sniper: "No one expects the spanish overwatch!"
Herald Calainthia: "Confess!" *grabs target and flings in front of Sniper*
Sniper: "BAM! Kick it up a notch!"
I'm sorry, it's late. I'll try to be less idiotic in the future. :D
Originally posted by Kenntak In addition, overwatch is potent on cavalry units. It allows you to attack 4 times over 3 turns using it in conjunction with mounted bound.
When you mounted bound using overwatch you get to do a basic attack right then in addition to placing the overwatch token.
turn 1: MB- normal attack, place overwatch
turn 2: overwatch attack resolves
MB again- normal attack, place another overwatch
turn 3: figure is pushed, but overwatch resolves
I can see where you're going Verdechu. Basically, it's a weird form of the Mounted Bound/Bound idea. You give the attack, then, because of Overwatch, hold off on that special ability and make another attack on your next command phase, as per Overwatch, in which case you can MB again to ranged attack and leave another Overwatch token for next turn.
I'm not sure on one thing however; would the "do not make a ranged attack" part of Overwatch negate the original attack from the Mounted Bound? If that's not so, Magus Tivon just got hella cooler. Give him the K-bow and...
I think I got it:
1)when you MB your allowed to use any special ability(mount or rider) to resolve that action(i.e MC/C) you then chose
overwatch & place the token AFTER you resolve the MB action
2)next turn you resolve the overwatch action...am I right
can I move & shoot(MB) when resolving the overwatch action?
Activate mounted bound to shoot at an enemy figure. If you hit, apply the damage. Place the overwatch token (remember you can use one special ability in conjunction with using MB; you may want to place the overwatch token when you declare mounted bound though). You now have one token on your cavalry unit.
SECOND TURN
In your command phase resolve the overwatch attack. You are not permitted to move, but must fire from where you are sitting.
Activate MB again to attack a figure. Once again place the overwatch token. You now have 2 tokens on your cavalry unit, but take no pushing damage.
THIRD TURN
Resolve the overwatch attack in your command phase. You cannot give the cavalry unit an action this turn because it has two tokens on it.
This gives you 4 possible attacks over 3 turns. Pretty useful.
