1) Yes & no. As far as compatiblity issues go, you can use any Mage Knight figures in any Mage Knight game (I personally would avoid Santa Claus, and probably any promo or demo).
As far as tournament status, Rebellion, Lancers, Whirlwind, Unlimited, Dungeons & Sinister are all retired and can't be played in any tournaments except Unrestricted events. Any figure that says demo or promo can't be played. Santa Claus can't be played because he can't be set at a proper starting position.
Note that storyline events have their own rules. You'll find that Titans and Multi-dials are usually disallowed (although there have been exceptions in the past).
2) He can make a close combat attack, but won't get this attack bonus for the attack. He'll use his damage value instead of his ranged damage value.
3) No, you can't fire over figures or blocking terrain unless you have an ability that specifically allows it.
1. You can use any figures you want in a casual game. In a restricted tournament game, you cannot use any of the sets that have been retired. You can however use those sets in unrestricted tournaments. At this time, Minions is not retired, but will be when the next expansion comes out (around October 2004).
2. A figure with the  can make an attack. However, you cannot use any  attack bonuses.
3. A figure can shoot over any terrain except blocking terrain. Of course, if the terrain is hindering or concealing, modifiers may apply.
Ask any questions you have. Many of us veterans have been playing this awesome game for some time. Welcome to Mage Knight!!!
Cool, that clears some stuff up, thanks. My next question is about action tokens. Are they just there as a reminder or something? I just dont get how the manual is saying it.
Basically, there purpose is a reminder that those units took an action or are pushed. However, the rules interact with the tokens, so they are very important to keep track of (when you give a unit a 2nd token it takes a click of push damage, for example).
One thing I always highly recommend to my players is to get two different colors of tokens. Use one color on one turn, the other on your other turn. That way you can easily see which units took actions on this turn. It also helps in later turns when you forget to remove an action token (often because it was hiding behind the figure). "Wait, it's a purple token, that should have been removed last turn. I'm using gold this turn."
Another question here.
Can your army have 2 or more different unique figs? I know the rules say you cant have 2 of the same one, but what if your army was built only with uniques?
Yes you can have all different uniques in your army and HtL is one of the June Scenarios which are tourments with restrictions heres the link to the rules of it http://www.wizkidsgames.com/mageknig...lesfromtheland
