Since my Nationals thread was locked I wanted to attempt to clear the air regarding what I did at Nationals.

I wasn't looking for support for what I did. I was making a commentary and trying to get some discussion about the game of MK regarding what traspired at nationals. I wasn't really looking to get support that was for or against me. I was looking to get responses as to where players thought MK was headed.

So, if you didn't like what I did from a gaming standpoint, then of course you should let me know. But, when the comments moved on to commenting about who I am as a person and how that motivated me to drop from the tourney, especially from people that don't know me....well that's going above and beyond what's expected. These are just plastic men after all.

The thread was locked but the drama doesn't end there. I'm still receiving PM's from people for and against what I did.

Here's a perfect example of a PM from someone I've never met before who just couldn't muster the courage to confront me in a public forum:

what did you expect when you started this thread? I'm very surprised to see that you even had the audacity to post that thread in the first place. You obviously posted the thread to get responses from other people about counter stratigies to your army, so why start bashing them when they offer an honest opinion about your army, your choice to drop out, and your choice to start questioning the direction of this game. You should have known that you were going to get some people that disagreed with you and instead of handling it like a mature, honorable person(which is what your clan is suppposed to be about) you start mocking them and making them feel like their opinions had no meaning and were unlogical. Why even bother posting your experience if you're not even going to consider the invalueble points made by other players?

Dude, take a break from the game and come back once you've grown up a little

Hi Chris. Thanks for the comments. I responded back to Chris in as mature a manner as my immature self could do and this is what I sent:

I started the thread to let players know what happened and why I did what I did.

I'm not concerned about counter strategies as that was not the intent of the experiment. I was told by numerous players that I couldn't go to Nationals with an army like that and win. So, I figured I would give it a try.

I never bashed anyone until they started questioning me as a person. Comments such as what was thrown at me had nothing to do with MK or what I was trying to convey with the thread. As a matter of fact, my stating that it's my own choice to drop wasn't bashing anyone at all. If someone decides to call me out publicly, I'm not going to back down.

Just because I'm a Lion doesn't mean that I'm honorable. It means that I can play Mk and games in general really good. Don't confuse honor with intelligence or ability. I am who I am.

I considered every point that was made. However, the majority of the comments were not made in response to my thread, but more in response to me as a person. Again...this was not the intent of the thread.

I received numerous PM's supporting my stance on this and ironically enough, only one PM, yours, that doesn't support me. Please don't send me another PM. It really was a big waste of your time.

Of course, despite my asking him not to reply to me, Chris decided to once again reply to me. Here's what he said:

I highly doubt that you've received more supporting pm's than ones from people like me, and even if you did get more supporting ones, it's nice to see that you've huddled your clan mates around you for support seeing as they were the only ones supporting your actions. Nobody was questioning you as a person, they were questioning the things you did at nationals and the overall lack of support for this game from your entire lions clan. Someone who claim's to be so smart should be able to see where the line is drawn.

I didn't both replying after that. Instead of starting an intelligent discussion regarding the future of MK....which I have not in any way condemned....I get this kind of stuff. Now he's even insinuating that I've asked my clan for assistance, which I have never done or needed.

Anyone that has any issue with what I did at Nationals, feel free to voice your opinion or questions here. But if it's not intelligent....the thread will get closed down and then you'll have to send me PM's which will just get deleted. I'm all for open forum debate just don't speak about me as a person when you don't know me is all.

My original post was discussing your army vs others I saw at Nats...that was all. I commented that the person who came in 3rd beat your army. I did not mean that as a personal attack, just that someone who did well was able to beat your army. We are talking about the Storm maul issue here, not you. When I said he was a top tier player, I did not imply that you were not. I was simply discussing your "experiment". However, I was blatently told my opinion doesn't count and am still getting hate mail that my opinion doesn't count. I wonder why you are posting on public forums if you do not want to discuss MK with others.

I understand what you were trying to do. You could have pick a smoother delivery and gotten a better response, but then you wouldn't be you.

There is a fundamental issue being raised, and I think it is best indicated by the number of games that ended rather early. Either your army/domain matched up with your opponent or it didn't.

I like the idea of relics and domains. I think they are good for the game as the mix things up a bit. However, some of them do more than mix things up they completely puree it. For example, I like downpour and darkness. They limit what you can do but don't flat out stop it. Storm Gale on the other hand just total shuts things down. Storm Maul was basically the most effective piece there. It just need some poor schlep to carry it around.

Cards are a good idea. MK just over did it. (much like the bound of old)

to discuss MK openly and with others. That was the intent of my original post.

Every year before Nationals I've always went silent until after Nationals because I've never wanted anyone to know what I'm fielding. SO, if I was silent before Nats about MK...it was by choice.

After all, they are the only two clans I've seen firmly represented on the Discovery Channel...

No clan wars here. I respect too many of the lions for that to happen. I am all for keeping discussions peaceful and amicable.

I think the loins and the bunnys should join together and form a new clan like the Loinnys or the three fanged rabboins, ok so maybe thats just badong (bad wrong)! :D

I applaud your experiment.

I brought most of my MK collection to Origins. This collection consisted of almost every 2.0 LE and base set including many great figures out of the previous legal sets. The night before nats I decided there is no way I could build a viable army that could be sucessful against the current Dark Riders cards. Now the whole collection has been sold. Perhaps when emphasis of this miniatures game goes back to playing figures and not cards I will buy back into the game that I was once so passionate about playing.

Guys, when a thread is closed, do not reopen a new thread on the subject. Especially, when what you want to discuss is the very issues that created the atmosphere in the first place.
