What figures do you think will gain a big power boost in sorcery?
OK, I know a lot of :wand: types will gain a lot power. But i'm talking about a few specific ones that could become EXTREMELY powerful with the release of sorcerey. Here are some I can think of:
Vithzerai: Oh my... it's scary just to think about it! First, he has such a massive attack, he'll be able to shut most of your opponents sorcerers down with ease by counterspelling. And then you think of the spells. Just out of the 3 we've seen, 2 benefit him greatly. Arcane sight removes half his weakness, he can now hit ghostforms figures. He only has to recast it if he misses, and that's not too likely. Arc lightning is just downright evil. The -1 to his attack doesn't matter much, his attack is so dang high. 5 damage to all those figures... ouch! With tome of brass he can get both Arcane Sight, Arc Lightning, and still have 8 pages left. All for a mere 33 points. If there's a spell that lets him bypass magic immunity... I don't even want to think about it!
Ley Dragon: Well... he can't use spells. But he is the only mount with the :wand: type. I'm not sure what that'll help with... but i'm sure it'll help with something. Maybe a spell or something that gives the user bonuses for each :wand: type in base contact. He has a decent attack for counterspelling too.
Jareth Starsdawn: A low cost :wand: guy with 14" range. That's gotta go good with some spells. He has pierce too which might help. I just have a feeling he'll be great.
***Dragon Priest: I think he might be played even without a mount. With 12 attack he makes a great counterspeller for a relatively low cost. He also has healing to give him a secondary purpose if your not using him with a mount.
I don't buy Vithzerai or Deathspeaker Aederon getting big power boosts. Vitherzerai with a spellbook is likely to be almost all of your army, even in higher point games (such as 500 pts.) He needs support, even if to buy him time to cast those spells you want him to case (the mentioned Arcane sight, for example).
I do expect cheaper wand uniques, like Priest Syndin & Warlord Azhan to get big boosts.
Just for comparisons sake, here is a list of the current Unique :wand: figures from cheapest to most expensive.
I think Anunub is about to become the central crowd control piece for the game. Throw that Arc Lightning on him and watch him destroy entire groups of figures.
Also along those lines will be Zamiel - he's overlooked a lot because of his lack of close attacks, so not many people (around here, at least) pay much attention to him. He might become a bit more noticed with the proper spells.
And lastly on my list, Master Cyrus. No one ever plays him here because he doesn't have quite enough extra bang to get noticed. Customizable spells is exactly what he needs to become a notable leader of a subfaction.

And in a different, but related direction, Zamiel and the Galeshi Sorcerer both have natural soaring and reasonable costs. This will make harrassing them harder (since no soaring figure can doubletime).
I think that the :wand: riders will get the biggest boost. They get all the bonuses of being a cavalry unit, and can still Counter Spell, and the uniques are equipable. Also, where can I find the proficiencies? Thanks! :)
Of course there are going to be a lot of spell-swinging dwarf traitors, turning against thier own kin and working along side those no true dwarf would.
Frankthedm has it right. It's not the :wand: type guys that will get the biggest boost, it is the :mi: type figures. Among these, I believe Caldera will make a strong reappearance.
In general, I see the BPR getting a HUGE boost in popularity.
More Spell Immunity than any other faction and the one subfaction that allows you to get around Spell Immunity.
Ouch. I wish I hadn't given up all my BPR (and any I pull, for eternity) to my wife.
As long as you're not playing against those BPR figures, I see a lot more :mi: figures being deciding factors in any game for a while. Players who haven't gotten the new set will be smart to field almost almost nothing that isn't :mi: just due to the fact that (as always) we have to play with the new toys.
The marquee alone will be pretty brutal, I imagine. Pull a couple of Forgemasters and watch the other folks just squirm as you ignore their :mi:.
Spellbreach. Total game breaker. I love it.
Even if it is going to make me cry as I get my poor armies smoked like hams.

Possibly... but I still have a very strong feeling there will be a spell that bypasses MI.
TECHNOMANTIC ATTRACTOR!!!!! for a mear 25 points I can have him abosrb all of your spells. Toss on Magestone Bracers and we have a 19 defense guy with spell reistance that absorbs all of your Wand Attacks, all for a mere 74 points.......Even Vith will have a hard time hitting him with an 11 attack on a 19 defense, he needs an above average roll to hit.
