The new state of relics and items in the big picture.
Now that Relics have to be equal to or cheaper then the wielder what does that do to figures like riders and the under 40 crowd? Things Like Thunder Javelin, who was used for Pike and Gliasta are now unuseable to them, what now? and then there is Hammer of the Realms that no non-avatar rider can use and many LEs get black listed from. What are your thoughts on this crazy turn of events?
I absolutely can't believe this, I usually don't read the tournament rules, but I figured, hey, what the heck, I'm bored, so I'll check them out. And I found out about the relics, and I was shocked. This really kills riders especially, I dislike it and I can't believe that WizKids is doing this. But, like the rest of the crazy changes that they've made, I guess I'll weather it out and hope for the best...
My point exactly. It is fair for nonriders- especially with nons able to use relics in Sorcery- but not for riders, who have to be cheaper so they are affordable when combined with mounts.
I'm in a positive mood about ALL of these changes. It'll bring back the spirit of the game where you have to build smart and play smart - not just pull or trade or buy for the biggest meat and potatoes you can put out on the table.
Nerfed Storm Maul. I'm over it. Now we can fight.
Nerfed Riders? My tush. They are still viable pieces - most coming in at around 100 points when mounted is pretty serious power on the field already and the built-in cavalry proficiencies make up for the loss of heavy relic weilding.
Nerfed small LEs? That's crazy. Almost absurd. We played a game once where there were no such things as items and relics. Figures weren't deemed "worthless" because they couldn't hold something. The LEs used to be elite warriors of a specific class - not a unique leader, but a unique warrior. They shouldn't necessarily have access to all of the mightiest relics in history - of course, I think and play from the standpoint of flavor more than some people, but I think this is the dumbest argument I've heard yet.
I am interested to know what small LEs people perceive just got neutered, though. I can't think of anything other than a Storm Maul combo, but most of those would soon go away because of SM changes made earlier this week. Some Bonestaff combo? What's the big loss that I'm not thinking of? KBow? It would change, too, I think.

Since the Hammer of the Realms and the Shadowplate are considered two relics, then I believe that any figure 54 points or higher can weild them together as the Hammer is 54 points and the most expensive. Because, again they are two seperate relics, they would each have to meet the requirement for points, and not together. Otherwise you would then say certain figures could not use certain relic/item combos if the combo value was higher than the figure they were equipped on.
Oh I see, you said riders, I thought you were talking about just any unique/LE.
If you think about it these FAQ and tournament changes is like releasing a new set entirely. No longer will you see kbow and storm maul. New to rise will be Chroma w/ inferno, bonestaff (because it has a faction requirement it didn't take a hit), BOL (this time on like only 2 figures), and Snow's fuser rifle. A change of 2 relics to 4.
I think riders are still good due to their impale, trample, and almost always available gang up.
I aggree that conquest will now be fun.
I also agree with Bobby Brady on the fact that a small frie should be able to wield excalibur (or a relic of equal greatness).
My only problem is that i wanted podo to return at a mere 3pts. That would have been soo sweet.

Will WK listen to us? Probably not.
you've got to be kidding, right? people griped about spirit armor, it got fixed. people moaned about storm maul, it got fixed. people yelled about deep water terrain, it got fixed. a few people even got upset about rage hammer and mask of mysteries, they were fixed a bit earlier than they could get outta control. where, in all of this, did wizkids NOT listen to us?
Err....I don't remember asking for this change.....
As a matter of fact, I don't remember many people complaining at all about relic costs and cheap LEs. If Storm Maul was on Scytha, it was all the easier to kill her and move on than to sit around and moan about how cheap she was. Honestly, who was doing this?
