Hi,

I have a tournement this weekend: 300pts pure faction. I want to build a solonavi army and come up with:

Varatrix/souldrinker

297pts

Some players ask for a 400pts build so I might add:

40pts - * Oracle of Rokos
62pts - *** Soulshredder
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Domaine I can work with is:

-Death, fen swamp, Magestone Strip Mine, Ley Burn, Smoke and Fog, Downpour, Grassland & Conviction.

If I use the first army I tought I can bring Magestone Strip Mine & Ley Burn to be nasty against new socery lover.

Other good relics I can dressup Varatrix is: Dragonfly, Magestone Shield & Solonavi Soulbinder.

I too love the Solonavi. I think that Trix is best without a relic, although Souldrinker is a pretty good one. My personal favorite is:

You can have any spells you want, although my favorites are Psychic Reflection and Auraheal. PR is godly with Trix. The only trick to get through PR, Thunderblow, is made suicidal due to Trix's Counter Attack. Very few want to tangle with him now. Auraheal is a way to heal your whole army. Now Trix can go wild. The Shades are great, with good values, Vampirism, and that godly subfaction. These two can Tap eachother's Vamp if need be. With the Codex, the OoR can abuse MC, such as DTing someone so their Rear Arc is in base with Varatrix >:).

For Domains, I'd suggest MS Strip Mine, Fen Swamp, and Death, although Death can backfire and kill your Shades.

TEZLA'S SHADE

if your playing Solonavi, you need to have TEZLA'S SHADE domain in your pool...if you roll a 6 you control his lowest point figure...

Example:
i took control of my opponent's spell caster and fed off his Hunter's Luck for the rest of the game...then i kept using that figure to attack my opponents figures with it's ranged attack from behind enemy lines...after i pushed it to death i started rolling for my next target (Mistral)...didn't make it and my solonavi figure died thus ending Tezla's Shade...

Yes, I know, I dont have Tezla shade... but looking for it ;)

Scorch Hammer is KING upon Varatrix! It really complements him well, helping with swarming and giving a damage field around him like inferno. As well providing sweep. And once you are in the right position, throw it away and BOMB your opponent with it! 10 damage to a clutch of figures is not to be underestimated!

I played the first build and got average success. First round I played against a Kem with shadowplates and the realm's hammers with Malava with an anti-range relic... with pectilence domain...

The player just run away while I was melting... I ate this kind of game...

Second game was against a draconum army with the ***reverent mystic, the possess draconum, a boosted magna champion and a cheap support. I was happy to get the magic imune granted by souldrinker on Varatrix cause my opponent got arcan sight. :) Varatrix killed the faty one after eachother while I used the shades to kill is support and harass.

Its alway even better to win against draconum!

i use varatrix with cloak of the dervish
