I'll have to admit, the Foster Grey did see a great deal of use. He had a great sculpt, and his mix of SAs was just awesome. I also played my Storm Golem a great deal just before 2.0 (since I picked him up for $5 after he was marked down), and I've got to admit, he is a beatstick. Never much cared for Death Stars with him though, he just walked up and shot at things in a straight foreward manner, and pummeled anything that based him.
But my all time favorite figure? That has to be the Troll Behemoth. He just did not have a bad click. His average damage was 4.2 (or something like that) which is just insane, and he kept an attack bvalue that could hit things. He was just an awesome piece to play.
I liked to use the Chaos Mage in army builds for his cheapness and unpredictability. At 45 points, you had a unique with almost every SA on its dial. In the hands of a master who knew his dial, he was a beast.
For regular figs, nothing could beat a standard or tough Troll Artilerist. 12 inch range, 3-4 damage and an 11 attack made tis a nice fig. I did not see him used by other players because of 14 inch ranged people and his low defense, but with the right backup, Trolll Arties were hard to beat.
Galeshi Ram Chargers, they were always pretty good and the 2.0 changes made them better
But my favorite since I started and many times persisted in playing were the Black Powder Boomers especially the tough ones
I didn't win much with them but they are still one of my favorite figs and I liked the UL version's sculpt even better
another one I liked though they now can't surge too well are the Galeshi Dervishes dodge is just great
Finally Gale Bronzeboss, the shield maiden LE, is a fav partially because I did actually win her in the storyline tourney and also her 17 defend always seemed good to me
These may seem like marginal figs but I always liked them even If I didn't win with them a lot
HTB all the way. :D Foster Grey, too... Sinister may have had some horrible paint-jobs, but it had some of the sweetest sculpts.
From my time in pure-faction leagues, I really learned to love Therenody, too... I'd say Therenody, Snake, HTB, Chaos mage... All fun and great figures. And Avante Reaver. 'Vanishing Mage' trick is fun to pull off on people.
I played at lot of Elf-at-ARms or whatever they were called back then. I had lots of formations to use them in and they were goood for swarming uniques and everything else for that matter. I also liked Heros such as Hitash Levat (my favorite) and Jarl Frostriven. Never got a Darq the Corrupt, though I think I would have loved him too.
pre2.0 sinister had the coolest sculpts. and one of my alltime fave are the deathsingers. really cool bone armors and the red-colored blades. :) too bad statwise its not to die for...
the magestone lord, dwarven axeknight and the corrupted priest are also on that list and of course its the debut of the colorful glowy entities. :D
Solonavi Striker and Wandering Mooch were both my fav. But the figs I used the most were the fell reapers. Just awesome figs in the pre double time days
