Once in awhile in our area we play non-restricted, all figures legal (except santa) and the last time we did, we came up with a neat little trick.
According to the Conquest rules: "Castle sections are Unique Mage Knight Figures because they can function as both warriors and terrain".
"All Mage Knight Unlimited rules for warriors apply to castle sections, except as noted in this section."
and according to the MK 2.0 rules: "Mage Spawn warriors don't have faction symbols, so they can not normally be members of formations."
The way it reads then, Castle pieces could be considered Mage Spawn. So we threw a Elemental wizard in with a book, some spells, and the Ritual of Transformation. When the wizard gets to a point near dying (or a point on the feild that needs defense), boom turn him into a tower (or a keep if high enough points).
Of course this is questionable with no new rules out for Conquest yet, but it's also hilarious to do in unrestricted, all figures legal battle.
OMG...if that really is legal than thats crazy awesome insane. I can't even imagine the look on someones face when they kill of a sorcerer and boom he becomes a tower.
Sorry, you cannot do that. The ritual clearly states that the speed type must be the same. I know that Castles do not have boot speed types. But if they did then you are good. They are not retired. It is just, hey can I play a Castle piece. That would be fun. It would wreck opponents. That is what I think should be done.
They can't move or be moved.
Hmmm. If it is destroyed, then placd on the field again, that isn't movement....
That's why we need new, updated, 2.0 Castle Rules.
But for unrestricted, have fun!
