i wouldn't use that as an army. range would probably be a big problem. And with the current archetypes of BoL and arcane sight or stone of scrying, it makes for a pretty hard to use army.
You have little range, and mostly close combat power only. That would require a lot of harrassment, or you would need healing.
i might scrap the shades and simply plop the souldrinker onto trix, making him magic immune, as well as allowing him to heal whenever he kills somebody. Then add an item to enhance his speed like the cloak of shadows. (if it still fits the points)
After seeing how awful the Mouth of Sauron is the movie, and how easily he is beheaded, I think I'll have to get a remod on my Honorguard :p.
In all seriousness, I really like this army. Healing could really help. I was trying to get a ***Dragon Priest on the Stag instead of the Honorguard, but then I'd have to demote a Shade to a **ZC. What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the Honorguard, due to his high defense, Command, and CB.
Well, the healer costs you a Ringwraith... And then you'd be running only two. I'd say Healing adds effectiveness, while the Honorguard keeps the flavor. It's a toss up ^_^
Gamewise, this army has a hard time against Soaring Ranged threats (Namely Rowan w/Wyrm Strike) w/Arcane Sight, guarded by a Sky Dragon. I lack arial superiority, and they can spend that whole game shooting. Once Trix gets in the air and is not shot down, he goes against the Skydragon and looses. Sure he takes the Rider down with him, but a 156 for 34 trade isn't exactly a good one. Then my army has to run around the whole game. I must say, the game has showed me the incredible value of the Stag's awesome speed.
The synergy between the 1st 2 is beautiful. Instead of wasting 3 turns to get the Skymage into Bound, I just have to have her in base with Varatrix at the beginning of the turn. With the Hammer, Varatrix can destroy Cavalry and Swarms, and can pop anything for 10 once. The ZCs are tried and true.
