With the recent outbreak of ‘MK/WK SUX!!!’ threads popping up lately, ‘General Disgust’ (as I have taken to calling it) has given MKRealms a severe black eye. We have longtime members who have great ideas and opinions to discuss who won’t even come near GD for all the #####ing and moaning FROM ALL SIDES that goes on here. Now before anyone gets started, I believe EVERYONE here has a right to voice their opinion, so I’m not telling anyone to get lost because I personally don’t agree with them. This is a personal goal I am setting for myself, and hopefully anyone else who would like to improve GD will join me. Here is my goal:

1) For every negative thread in GD, I will attempt to start a thread with a positive slant, or post actively in existing positive threads. This DOES NOT mean it will be a 'WK/MK ROX!!!’ cheerleader-type thread; it will be a thread that hopefully all members can enjoy equally and lead to intelligent or entertaining posts from all. Pickman's current riddle thread and the DHC (missing in action) Battle Arena are perfect examples of positive threads that encourage participation without the pro-MK vs. anti-MK 'debates.' I am encouraged to see a few positive threads popping up already...

2) I will keep participation in negative threads to a minimum, if at all. ‘MK/WK SUX!!!’ doesn’t do any good (for the game, for the community, for newcomers, etc.), and by posts from BOTH SIDES bickering back and forth do even less good. If I post in any what I would consider negative threads, it will be long enough to state my OPINION on the subject in an intelligent manner and go about my business. I will try to refrain from posting several times in the same negative posts no matter what is posted after any remarks I might’ve made; if anyone would like to address what I have said directly, they can PM me and I would be glad to discuss it in private.

3) I will try to encourage everyone to show a bit of restraint when titling threads. '2.0 killed MK in my area' will degrade into flaming, whereas ‘MK tourney attendance in my area have dropped – HELP!’ will bring out mostly helpful posts. I would encourage the Mods to be lenient/helpful to members who may have posted a thread in anger/frustration that may have changed their stance enough that they would like to rename their threads.

4) Spread my lame form of humor throughout GD whenever and wherever I can. :p

I hope that my few tiny steps will help to turn the current trend around. Maybe with the help of like minded members, MKRealms can be a better place...

I find it peculiar and interesting that so many people that have professed to dropping the game still post to convince others that the game is dying and they should quit. I played MTG for YEARS and when I quit I just walked away quietly and without the negative recruitment.

I know of several of my closest friends that have played and quit - I don't hold that against anyone. But why recruit hatred?

Zen, I'm behind you, brother. I like the game. I have fun playing it. I even like the killer armies that beat me every single week, because I don't remember the last time I actually won. Wouldn't that make a great new thread? "WK made a game that I can't win cuz I sux and so they sux and no one should like it!"

You know, it's really interesting that there are a whole bunch of 'WK killed my father and raped my sister' threads and at the same time there are a bunch of 'I just started and need/want some help' threads in GD. It's like... all crazy... my mind just can't handle the dichotomy!! Ahhhhhhhh... Anyway, good post Zen-man.

Mage Knight is dying a slow death. I finally accepted it and will not be buying any Omens. As much as it disturbs me, I will probably sell my entire collection. I wish there was a game out there to take it's place, but I really haven't found one. There is only one MK and you really can't compare it to Warhammer or Heroscape. I'll miss my beloved Chroma and Khan Rava and Varatrix and....Just leave me alone to cry.

Wolfman... got a Pathis you want to part with? Let me know if you do! I'd also be willing to take some of your Drac nons off your hands.

If you squint these all look like the threads that were on here when ML Ram gun/Big Bound/Yo-Yo/Corpheus tactics were running rampant. But wait...that was 1.0.

This reminds me of old folks who talk about "back when they were young" as if anything was really any better. People #####ed then and they'll ##### now.

The KEY is not tossing the baby out with the bathwater. I believe that MK can be saved. I think smart folks like Sigmazero13, mrdebeua and HaiKu are in the process right now! I suggest everyone hold tight and keep playing.

Oh, and the best way to overcome the negativity of GD is to quit reading GD. This forum has ALWAYS BLOWN DONKEYS! ;)
