The reason I ask: a local store has these boosters for $3 Cdn. each. Either Minions was an unpopular expansion or something else.

What did you like or not like about Minions?

Minions was decent, but it's probably on sale because it's retired from tournament play now. Minions is the set where the Amazon Draconum was found, so I would say it was at least reasonably popular. It also had the Brass Commanders, the Solonavi Drones and Channellers, and lots of Xandressans.

Not that bad a set, in my opinion.

The local store here still has Minions boosters in stock at $1.50 :D

I for one never bought a Minions booster, kept buying rebellion and Lancers even when it came out. the reason I did not was because I never liked the sculpts... back then that was my motivation for buying.

minions was ok. Thats when the xanderssen boarder came to be. a cheap atlatean fig with 5 damage and a decet 12 attack rating.

I also loved those high defense orcs with the two hammers? the tough one was a brute.

Ironclads. walking orc doom machines is what they were.

It was ok. I also liked the Xandressan Boarder and Brass Commanders, but did not like Am Drac.

Personally, I liked minions. I thought minions was great for basic core troops that helped fill in some of the small gaps that were missing at the time. I don't know why minions got the bad rap it did. Most the uniques were very playable (even the one's that wern't played that often) and the sculpts were top notch.

If you don't mind playing with retired figs, then I'd get some and see what you like. I have nearly two full cases of minions (bought one, got the other as my warlord redemption stuff) and was not disapointed at all.
