Back in the day there was a really powerful combo involving Amazon Draconum and any figure with magic levitation. The rules for magic levitation(ML) at the time stated that one could levitate any figure without magic immunity anywhere within 10 inches as long as the figure began the turn in b2b with the ML'er. The AD would start the turn in b2b with the ML'er. The AD would bound out or around a corner or something and shoot something for an unavoidable 5 clicks of damage then be ML'ed back into b2b with the ML'er.
The combo was so efficient that it was nixed in the rules.
Times have changed and thanks to sorcery and dark riders it is now possible to build another yoyo, but it is not nearly as powerful as the original. Get pretty much any Atlantean sorcerer with slots and equip it with a spellbook that has at least one Technomantic Recall and Mechanoid in it. Then get any decent ranged figure with bound. Cast mechanoid at the beginning of the game. Set up at a decent range or around a corner. Bound out and shoot something with the bounder then use technomantic recall to pull the bounder to safety back in b2b with the caster.
That is pretty much my universal yoyo.

I also realize that it is not necessarily wise to rely on Mechanoid because you never know if someone is packing a terrain that cancels it or a Disbelieve. So I propose a less powerful more exclusive version.

Those are just basic examples, there could be any number of elaborations on this strategy. I also realize that it is not unbeatable. I want to hear some feedback on this little oldschool revision.:cool:
The yoyo is fun. There is also the hooked yoyo as I just decided to call it. A different combo which works on the same principles.
Mechanoid the opponent. surround your sorcerer with the technomatic recall spell with other figures. proceed to mounted bound any sword rider using the minotaur hook. technorecall the hooked figure and remove it from the game.
note, this also works with the solonavi soulbinder.
War Consort used the exact same combo on me last month... was very powerful and gave my teleporting RLD army a very tough battle... I still won though... hehehe

I came up with the combo when I was just sitting around looking through the relics trying to find a use for ones I'd never really played. You can find some interesting stuff if you think about it.
Steinerplex, that won't work quite as you thought...
Once the figure becomes friendly to you, it's no longer affected by the mechanoid. You'll have to mechanoid yourself, so when you steal control the figure becomes a golem.
