Equip Karrudan's bow on Sniper (atlantean L.E.) riding on the chariot.
The goods:
- 1 action Overwatch on Sniper, move into enemy territory.
- 2nd turn shoot with an 11 attack rating 4 damage at 8 range. Or you could be close enough by 4 in range and use point blank (12 attack rating or 5 damage) at the start of turn, then push to shoot again on the same turn.
- The chariot is also a melee beatstick on it's own.
- The chariot offers protection and at the same time. Even if the opponent manages to hit and cause blow-through, eventually destroying the chariot, Thats a good thing!!! It will hasten Sniper's demise to trigger Karrudan's Bow 12 range 4 auto damage.
- Soaring
- High attack rating 13 to 14 with pt blank
- dies easy
- mounted bound/bound with a 4+4=8 normal damage or a 5+5=10 damage with pierce
The rampaging Sniper chariot has the advantage of:
- a lot more robust.
- K-bow wielder is a lot more protected.
- can move with just the chariot's 10in quickness
- can do multiple attacks (Sniper with the overwatch and chariot sides)
- If the chariot falls down, sniper has a large chance of blowing up as well due to blow-through and the 1d6 damage that the rider gets from an eliminated chariot
- can cover a token for some duration. - passenger is unaffected by death throes and Explode undead or technomantic overload
- Rider is relatively safe from revenant/bonestaff figs harassers.
The greatest success I've had with this combination is in conjuction with IMPLANT CHANNEL.
Let's take for example Magus Alment Lan
1 action Overwatch. Move the chariot, face it towards your opponent with a angle making sure that it's 270 degree front arc faces your opponent's fig.
Cast implant channel with MAL and shoot as far as 14 with 4 damage. That's a 14 in. move with chariot (using all sides) plus another nearly 14 in range of Implant channel from MAL.
or instead of using MAL, use 2 or 3 Delphana masters using implant channel as well.
Sniper now becomes a ramapaging juggenaught of a GUN TURRET.

I think the enemy can choose to get out of your range 8" after your "overwatch + chariot move" turn.
And
They can even bound or charge or surge the head of chariot, to make it immoblised first.
And
with mechanoid, one single hit from blacksledge will kill the chariot.
when you base that opposing Fig, he'll still have t break away. If he moves out of the 8 in range, then just shoot it with Implant channel.
if
they surge/strike at the chariot's head with charge or surge, then all the better. Break-away and then whack them with the 10 attack and 4 damage rating.
if
they kill the chariot, then the controller gets to roll 1d6 damage to the passenger (+ possible blowthrough if struck at the sides) then sniper blows up and deals 4 damage at 12in radius at the black sledge controller.
This situation is a lot more easily avoided if the sniping chariot had implant channel back-up. Move the chariot, then using sniper's base.. cast several implant channels at your opponent.
Kyma is also an excellent fig. I prefer using sniper due to his being an Atlantean Empire Fig. effective for implant channel or even techno overload due to his :golem: status.
Thanks Kenntak, Counterspell is an underestimated proficiency at times. It feels SSSoooo Good to *Slap* / counter an opponent's spell
Implant channel can be casted during storm gale because it's a special action and not a range combat action. Storm Gale only prevents range combat actions and not range combat attacks.
Implant channel's target can be anywhere on the board. It's range however is still limited to the caster's range and range damage value.
3) Can A use B's base (assuming that B's front arc is facing C) to shoot at fig C even though both A and C are in base contact with each other?
When casting Implant channel and the target of the spell is an atlantean passenger in the chariot:
Implant channel Caster is Magus Alment Lan with a 14 in range
passenger of the chariot is Sniper (infantry golem L.E.)
4)Is Magus Alment Lan's range reduced to 8in as well?
as I understand, the base of the spell's target is used as reference in terms of center dot, Line of Fire, and Front Arc. The Caster's Range and Range damage value is the only one thats used right?
Thanks,
War Consort
kendrayk, WarCon24, and Starocotes get stamps.
1) No. To target C with the attack, A would have to use Precision, and cannot make the attack otherwise.
2) Yes. The attack's target D is not basing any friendly figures. It doesn't matter that B is basing an opposing figure; B is not being given the action.
3) No. Without Precision, C cannot be attacked with the ranged combat attack.
4) Only the Range Value of the PASSENGER is affected. However, the passenger of a chariot cannot be the target of Implant Channel. From the MDW rules:
"Passengers are not considered to be in base contact with the chariot, and they cannot be targeted by friendly or opposing warriors."
This restriction does not apply just to attacks - they cannot be targeted, PERIOD, and since Implant Channel requires you to target the friendly figure, the passenger cannot be targeted by it. (for this spell, there are essentially "two" targets of different types; the friendly "target" of the spell's effects, and the opposing "target" of the attack)

So that means that Implant channel can't be used for support for this combo. Other suggestions ?
Wasn't there a relic that could heal MDF's ?
And a spell that gives your passenger precision would also be helpfull, since ur opponent will be basing the chariot, so u can't target those attackers anymore...
what's the ruling on spell effects on MDF's? is it "MDF's can NOT be TARGETED by spell effects" or is it "MDF's can NOT be AFFECTED by spell effects"...because a spell like AURA HEAL is an AREA EFFECT not targeting a specific figure...thus, MDF's can be healed...

Place this spell face down on top of the caster’s stack when it is cast.
Give the caster a special action. Roll one six-sided die and subtract 2 from the result, with a minimum result of 1. Each friendly figure without the Golem damage type within a 6" area of effect of the caster is healed of damage equal to the caster’s damage value or the die roll result, whichever is greater.

Auraheal will heal the chariot. Also, you can cast dragon flame out of a chariot up to 15" away without damaging the chariot. Great for token squatting. I heal my chariot as it gets hurt and blast any swarms that try to take it down.
