I will complain again, I lost to Death Domain in the finals (since I had no counter left) so I won't be at Nats this year...
Now, that's not why I'm so upset really, it's just that you MUST, MUST, MUST either build and army that works with Death and Pestilence Domains, or you MUST MUST MUST bring the 2 counter-Domains...there is NO CHOICE. WHen there is no choice in MK, I am very upset.
Even bringing the counters is not enough, since one game you are domain-less. When I lose with no stratgey, no tactics, no nothing but waiting to roll some ones, I am not happy. Can I build viable armies to survuve this...yes, do I want to be forced to all the time if I want to win, no. To me, that is not fun. These Domans are horribly unbalanced, especially relative to the other Domains, If there is not a Spell and/or Relics to counter them in the next run (like Chinook for Storm Gale) I might be upset enought ot quit MK, and I am one of its biggest fans and supporters almost since the beginning.

It's kind of funny, today at the Qualifiers someone played Famine for fun and played the Death domain against an army with 4 *Zombie Centaurs. When Death was played, Famine didn't know it was a Death Throes army ;) . Both Famine and the Horse took 4 during that Command phase.
Just a Note: That Twist of Fate Domain in the preview will stop those.....and everything else.
I agree with the Death domain.....it is tough when everybody keeps rollinig 1's....no strategy.
The only reason I don't come out as hard against it is for this one reason:
Everybody that is "great" at this game talks about how easy it is to take out the big fatty uniques. Death evens that out a bit, and if I were to play a big fatty competitively, you can bet that Death will be one of my domains.
Evening the field for the high point figures is the only reason I don't rant about the ridiculous-ness of the Death Domain.
Pestilence is just mean though. There is no good way to stop it. Either your army can ignore it, so you play it, or it is horribly mean to you. That one is not fair. Tell me a good way to stop it against an all Lurk army. You cannot.
Pestilence is a little annoying but toughness, invul, Rally, Aura Heal, Technomatic Repair, Mechanoid... do wonders. Many ways around it. But you do have to take into acount.
Death is all about the points and rolls. A bit hard to stop, but not high on the reliability list.
Oh come on jgklaw, you'd give up just over a silly domain? I thought your army was great. You are a great player. All of us here in NYC need great players/warlords just like you to keep going.
Great competition is what makes the games fun for me and many others.
So stop it with the "I may just quit" nonsense. You are not foolin' anyone.
anything that removes ALL strategey from the game itself, and anything that makes a decent army build an AUTOMATIC loser is not good for the game, even if some few counters exist against it.
Remember, I'm a long-time player ranked consistently top 50 worldwide, I've played countless MK games under all the rulesets, and I try not to complain overly much about "broken" things, I never ranted about Storm Golem in the day, or Am Drac, or Varatrix. I was however, one of the best ML/Ram?SA players and I lobbied VERY hard for a change to reduce the effectiveness of that army. I try to only really come out when I see something very unablanced. The new Domain that cancels all Domains is not an answer, because it still falls into the must-have Domains...
Those 2 Domains should end on a 2D6 roll of 2-4 or something like that...
My clever opponent played it with Maleficius, who is :mi: and get sGF later, so he'll never be shot to death, then, he of course eventually gets his Circle of Wraiths down (Mal is not easy to coutner) and then the game is over, everyone just rolls until enough 1's come up...now this is one example, but Vextha with a Cloak and some hindering works almost the same...
And Pestilence, unless you are geared to face it, you won't win 99 out of 100.
In bigger tourneys it's almost not so bad, if you have to play 6-7 rounds, and you have your 2 gimicks, which migh even get canceled, I agree they are no problem. When I show up at my local venue and 3 people are playing Pestilence/Death, that means I face one EVERY round...(people save their best Domains for me...)
I remember those days. jgklaw got his rep by being the best player at our venue. I remember the time he first brought the dreaded ML/Ram army to the table. I had a great tournament going up until then. And then all I got to kill was Podo!
But Jgklaw is also one of the most dedicated players I know. ('cept maybe tiktakcat) and is known for his generosity and sportsmanship. If I have ever been beat down in a game, I was glad it was against you Jgklaw!
So Jgklaw, just remember that we all play death/pestilence against you because we care.

Wow, where to begin... shoot, it would just take too long to explain here. And to really get an accurate picture, You would have to hang around with him for awhile to get the full picture...
This is true. The Nats winner at my venue last week used two Vengeful Ghosts for his two Call Familiars. He used the Death domain in one round and it was used against him in another round. His opponents racked up some serious kill points, but he could use those wraiths with impunity since they'd just pop right back up.
