I personally would tip my hat to the *** forgemage. I'm biased since I'm a BPR player, but 10 attack and 4 guarenteed clicks of healing sticks me as a nice deal for 33 points.
i suggest astrus! with his lowest level, which is level1 he has 10 healing and just 25 points. and making him to full level means having magic healing and necromancy...:D hope this helps!:D :) ;)
I go with the tough leech trolls... can you just imagine a charging healer?
The other leech trolls aren't too shabby either.
My next favorite would be the tough forgemage (of course).
But the third placer would be the weak tempest priest because not only is he a healer, he can also use a spellbook all in the cheap point cost of 29... (wannabe a familiar?
my opinion is that a weak tempest priest with auraheal is the best. He's cheap has 3 damage on his starting click, which means auraheal with a minimum of 3 and he also has magic heal in case you havnt browsed for auraheal.
29 points for the tempest priest and then 28 for the tome of wierding. = 57 points you can fit more in your army and heal them at the same time.

He's actually only 32 points. I'm biased as well since I mostly play BPR but for the points the *Tempest is great. I try and have one of each in bigger games since a good number of big hitters have the magic immune defense type.
aura heal is bad for the page cost, I'd rather use mending touch 4 pages less and heals 2, but isn't turned over after you use it. O yeah and tough forgemage kicks butt.
The choice of Healer is shifted to depend on their effectiveness rather than only the number shown on their dials.
Although I know Astrus, *Leech Troll, *Blood Cultist are good healers...
It seems that I don't use them at all recently.
The reason (I think) is because 300pts is very little ...
I can bear to have a merely 30pts figure standing on the field but almost entirely doing nothing all the time.
While playing, U have to consider when U will need "Healer", before U put one in. It is very important because we are not trying to satisfy ourselves with the words, "Healer is neccessary, at least a tiny one."
Here is my choice of healers:
1. ELE sorcer (29pts) + MOM
2. Lady Ciara (51pts) + Shadowplate of Realm, on Blue sky dragon
3. Tyros os Tyoas (37pts) + Blacksledge or Crown of Khamsin, on SkyDancer
They are all not just only a healer but also a transport or a Bomber in the sky or a Hammer to crush enemy to dead if they are golem type.
* Blood Cultist : Healing every turn is just plain good. He's also an ok shot if you need an emergency ranged attack...
** Centaur Shaman : The cheapest healer with 10 attack, MH, and :hspeed: . A highly mobile piece with nice a knack for hindering terrain...
Heartdrinker : He's jsut a good meele fighter which also happens to have Healing... Better served with a relic like Paragon's Sledge or Treefel.
Lvl 2 Autumn : Seriously, she's getting overlooked nowadays. Healing + Magic Levitation is a nice combo... ML might be not be as strong as it used to be, but it's still very nice.
* Blood Shaman : I think I'll start calling him Bat-orc, coz he just can do so much... He soars, he heals, he hexes, and he can shoot? He's the incredible Bat-orc!
* Leech Troll : a cheap healer with Toughness, Regen, and 3 damages... He's just solid for 36 pts.
Dragonplate : ok, it ain't a healer per se, but it turns anyone able to weilde it into one, while also giving all sorts of nifty little bonuses...
