One lowly Turncoat, battling on against impossible odds...
For those of you that have seen Beast Wars, I'll bet you can't tell me which episode's that from ;). This is just a fun army based on the Unique I pulled last night (IMO one of the best, if the most expensive, one in Omens). Also, does any one have any tips for Goldyx? Thanks! :)
Raydan Marz (the Turncoat)(Dinobot)
Magestone Armor-72
PoV-20
was that saying used when Rattrap infiltrated the Predecons base as a traitor (Double Jeopardy)...but you used Dinobot as "The Traitor"...was the this first couple of episodes when Dinobot first joined the Maximals continually trying to prove that he was no longer a Predecon...
Actaully, "One lowly turncoat, battling on against impossible odds" was said by Megatron in Code of Hero (when Dinobot died saving the human race). He said it when he saw how beat up Dinobot was after taking on Tarantulas, Black Arachnia, Inferno, Waspinator, and Rampage. He then said, "I'm almost touched *sniffle* Fortunatly such moments pass quickly. Quickstrike, finish him". I though since Raydan Marz was kinda sorta an Atlantean turncoat, he fit the role best in the MK world. Plus, his short but deadly range but dominance in melee is like Dinobot, with his short eyebeams, and deadly sword/ chopper thingy.
[looks at all three seasons of BW on shelf]...yeah, Code of Hero is one of the best episodes in the series, though I do like the Transmutate episode better, but Beast Wars aside. Your army is very potent I just have a few comments and sugestions.
the first is that your are probably best to keep marz on his first click as long as possible and use the now 20 inch strike range to deal out the pain. This tactic is your only hope against soaring ranged units. Vith and Tythania will be a hard battle to fight, though Vith more then Tythania. Your only hope in that situation is to try to get first hit on Vith.
The second is that Smoke and Fog is your friend, its limiting of range to 8 inches does nothing to Marz and everything else to the current list of Big Bounders. Marz w/ a 12 speed out speeds most other bounders thus he has a better chance at getting first strike on them.
Third, when facing double dragon army use the Marrauder to tie up one dragon calvary while you use Marz to Shoot the other dragon's rider (if it is a * Honorguard). This will Knock the CB off the rider and make Marz untouchable due to his triple reduction.
Fourth, Marz is not a figure you run in and start beating with, I can't stress that enough, he is not a Chroma figure, use his ability to stick and move to its fullest. This will get you the most bang for your buck.
Lastly here are some other variations on a Marz Army you could try
Rayden w/ Realms Relics and Magestone Bracers - 280
2 x * Grimlin
total:300
The grimlins run interferance.
Rayden w/ Inferno, Magestone Bracers, and Bracer's of the Ranger - 246
*** Black Wing - 32
2 x * Grimlin - 20
total: 298
This version uses the spawn to run interferance while Rayden sets up for shots and has some range protection.
To finish this of I'd like to say that your army might work better if you trade the death and pestilance domains out for Smoke and Fog and then Downpour. Then drop the PoV for a ** Black Wing.
On the topic of BW, Code of Hero was my favorite episode (although Dinobot was my favorite character, if he had to go, that's the way to do it, taking down the Golden Disk with him). I think it really did justice to him. He could've used his eye beams more, though.
Anyhow, I really didn't expect his army to do anything but be fun to play. I think it would be a good idea to try and make Marz able to get figures into his Bound range w/out getting shot up. I think Inferno is very good. Although it won't be "one lowly turncoat" anymore, it'll be something close ;) :
Marz-187
Inferno-35
MSB-10
PoD-6
**Marauder-16
*Marauder-12
*Marauder-12
Giski lvl.c-22
What do you think? The PoD can go on Gishki as a surprise secondary threat.
Hahaha! Not only was Code of a Hero the best episode I remember back in the day when me and my neighbor saw it for the first time we were almost moved to tears. If ya have to die that's the way to go right there. *salutes the memory of dinobot*
Woops! I just watched CoH again, and the line is "One lonely turncoat, battling on against impossible odds". To keep with the flavor, I'll try to make Marz's last attack of the game a ranged attack :p . Here's my new & improved Dinobot:
Yeah, 3 seasons. Season 1 was normal, season 2 transmetals, and season 3 Optimal Optimus. Of all of them Megatron as a Dragon was definitely the coolest (other than Dinobot of cousre ;) ).
Aye. And when Waspinator's body was overtaken by Starscream's spark. That was awesome! That loser became a force to be reckoned with... Bwahahahahahaha! See the only thing Waspinator lacked was a brain.
going back to your army, Marz is a great figure and your army build has alot of speed...Inferno is a great Relic on Marz...my only comment is IF Marz goes down (and that's a big IF) to a swarm, with only 3 figures left, you will get overwhelmed...
Here's an idea I had: with Call Familiar, Order of the Cresent Sword can be really cool. I can just DT the Familiars to death, and for every 3 Familiars I kill this way, Marz should get a click back. I'm not sure how to properly immplement it, but I like the idea... Heck, it even works w/ Summon.
It's been years since I've watched that show!!!:D And I'm 16.
Anyway, how are BW like Tarantulas? Confusion!! Pretty good army, if I get Marz, I'll check him out.
