I showed the boys (we had 5 players show) that Harrowblade is still viable, especially with Ranger's Plate on. Khan Podo and his insane defence easily kept my weaker pieces alive, and by playing my normal swarm of Maruaders I got to play Ribaya's Ghosts, which allowed me to have my MS move n formation with my Orcs, woohoo!
I have gotten back to using a Blood Shaman, Hex is just amazing, and I'm sure most people don't use it. I used it to help on offense, and also to force rerolls for defensive purposes...
I had very tough games againt Dracs, DC (Kossak with Bloodhook, Psychic Reflection and Fang Ritual, ugh!), and Treehuggers.
Every faction can field a very strong army these days, and all the games were close, it was MK at its best, I'm happy to say!
The AE won tha day at mine. I faced EL and Shyft. Though suprisingly enough, no grimlins, black wings, frost wolves, wave spawn, and fangworms were pulled.
I play BPR, I was happy to get Fickett's Fifty, especially since I didn't already have it. Sadly, there was only one other player that showed up. And to top it off, our venue ran out of product and couldn't get any prior to the event, so we had to adapt. We went 500 pt, faction pure, and only one relic/spellbook allowed. We could play as many items as we wanted, and one domain and one adventuring company card. I used Children of Kos (because I roll like carp), and I used 4 Apprentice Forgers, so the card was free. I tried out a new team after reading one of the threads here. I used Captain Onitsha, Morathai on a Salamander, and Tymara os Korgas on another Salamander... Why? Because they all had Submerged. I used Fen Swamp for my domain, so I could place them anywhere on the field. That, and my opponent's lousy rolls, it helped my lowly BPR beat out his Draconum team! He used the Dragon Gods domain, which hurt him in the end. He had to go for a complete kill, but his rolls let him down. So not only did I get Fickett's Fifty (which I needed), I also got the Gate Shield (which I also needed)!
Five people showed at mine. My elves pulled through in three tough rounds. I had Gabriel with Shield of the Elven Gods and Zyph wih Spirit armor supportd by a *** Frost Minion and a **Rivvengaurd archer. I ended up pulling a lot of figs with charge so that ended up being what this force was about. All in all it was three very tough rounds and a lot of fun even though we all agreed that the prizes were pretty lame. But a good event.
In the end, my mercenary soul won out, and I went with the faction that gave me the best chance of winning as I viewed. I ran my AE golem bomb army that I won the nats qualifier with. I faced a DC army with Kossak and friends, a Drac army centered around a beefed up Chroma, and Revered Mystic, and a EF army in the finals with Councilor Laurel with a Priest on a Sky Dragon, and a Tempest Preist.
We pretty much all went with the idea of buying a Dark Riders pack and an Omens pack since the rules didn't specify. I got lucky and pulled 4 chargers, including a Battle Mentor and an Orc Violator.
I survived the final because I rolled less horrible rolls than my opponent. I played my nephew in the finals and he rolled crit misses in 3 out of 5 turns at one point. This more than balanced all my horrible 1's and 2's rolled for technomantic overload.
went to 2 Faction Wars...I won w/ DC at one w/ a bunch of Vampire Dogs led by a Flayer w/ the Blade of Shadows and Varganna casting Taste of Blood and Hunter's Luck... triple vampirism on most of my figs was nice...from my boosters I pulled a Gryn and a couple of Fang Worm (or Poo Demons as we call 'em round here)..of course, the BPR army I beat in the finals of one stomped my buttocks at the other Faction War I attended...the only U we saw pulled at the 2 FW was a Kaznak but the guy playing him lost when the rest of his team was wiped out and time ran out while Kaznak was being held up by a swarm of Mage Spawn...
The BPR won the day with DC coming in second. Unfortunately, we only had 3 players so these 2 factions along with the Solonavi were the only factions represented.
BPR won the day with a well constructed army that included the Crown of Khamsin. This relic is UBER now that the BPR have some really solid melee figures. I've played it myself and it significantly improves a BPR heavy army.
Overall, the format was enjoyable and we all walked away with our respective AC card.

Agree, Hex can save your skin. A few weeks ago I used a similar Hex-like move with Oracular Codex. This was the first time I had ever used this Relic, and I used it just for fun. It saved me on several occassions. When you roll a very high Oracular roll, it's so nice to get into a situation where you KNOW you are going to hit an attack roll.
It's an expensive relic, but like Hex it can get you out of some tight spots.
First round my opponent and I wiped each other completely, but I had control of 2 tokens. It came down to Mistral and Spirit Armor vs Throne Monk with Inferno and MSB.
Second Round was against DC. I had no range and had to wait for the soaring Rhiamon and *** Vamp archer to land. I cleaned the ground and took the objectives. My opponent couldn effectively land to challenge any objectives.
Two very fun games! I already pulled a Gate Shield so I can now trade it for something I don't have.
In terms of armies, The tournies I went to were won by DC, Orks, Orks, and EL. But if I heard correctly, it is the faction affiliation of the winning player (not the winning army) that determines who gets the win. If this is true then the winners would be undecided, Solonavi, Solonavi, and...Solonavi! Muahahahaha!!!! (and yes, the three Solonavi wins were mine) (...and no I didn't take the Gateshield card after I got the first one...nor did I take any AC's after my first tourney)
I won with the EF at my venue. We had six players with three playing Solonavi, one orc, and one Apocalypse(?). I figured a good MOM army would be very difficult to beat in this format and my guess was right. For a change.
My son won it with Harrowblade/Podo and the boys! He beat a mage spawn army, Elven Lords and Elemental armies to sweep. The Elementals gave him the closest competition!
