My friend Awoo and I came up with this combo. It's only feasible in a 400 point game. I name the combo - Aeradon's Swarm Bomb.

1st action
Deathspeaker Aeradon casts Swarm of the Darned, probably on himself.

2nd action
Tempest Priest casts Dragonflame targeting the 22 Imps. If the spell and attack succeeds, the Imps are eliminated. Since Aeradon is already at full health, distribute 22 damage to any of your opponent's figures.

There are a lot of weaknesses in this combo, not to mention the fact that this army will be royally screwed against damage reduction abilities like Toughness, Invulnerability, and Lurk.

The first version of this army used weak Grimlins. There's also another (not so efficient) method using lots of Detonating Zombies* and a Shockwave figure. The weak Detonating Zombies would be used as the fodder since they only have a click of life and would die immediately from 1 click of Shockwave.

I'm Not too sure that the 22 imps can fit in the deployment area and if they are within the tempest priest cone of fire. They're magespawn and have flight SA so they can't be moved in formation.

why not goblin volunteers? (do they die after 3 clicks? I'm not sure)

Do what I did at Megacon, Use goblin volunteers and the domain that eliminates demo figures

True, but if possible, I don't like the Swarm Bomb to depend on domains. Goblin Volunteers are great also, but with the Imps (mage spawn), Aeradon can summon them back to the game.

War Consort, I'll try to see tonight if I can physically fit in 22 Imps in the deployment area. :)

can anyone else cast swarm of the ####ed? those are things i never thought about coz i usually make armies out of what i have on hand. :) dont think i ever came across swarm of the ####ed in any of the boosters i bought

Is this even legal?

This is a very interesting combo. It would be risky, as you mentioned, any damage mitigation spells (anywhere on the dial) and you're stuck with the otherwise useless Aeradon. On this note, why are you using Aerodan? I don't know if anyone plays 400 points anyway...

Maybe I missed something but wouldn't it be better to use a cheap Dragon Mystic like Grathaka, or the Nexus Eldrich Draconum?

The only problem I see with this is that "Grathakar Swarm bomb" doesn't have the same ring, but it could grow on you.

I believe Aeradon is the only unit capable of casting Swarm of the Damned. Although Dragon Mystics (like Grathakar) can cast any spell and use its affinity page count, Swarm of the Damned has the Deathspeakers subfaction as a faction requirement.

Is it legal?

swarm of the damned is not included in the FAQ to be nerfed like the *suicide type tactics effects Death Throes, Karrudans Bow, Spirit Armor*.
