its supposed to be all about darq, khurgas there for leader ship and the master has windweaver if anyone decides to go soaring (Darq's major weaknes) plus act as a secondary attacker.
(windweaver is I belive the name of the relic that makes soaring figs within 10 inches of the user go down to ground lvl)
so what do you all think, Id appreciate any coments or advice anyone has.
BTW I was going to use the eldrich drac with windweaver instead of Kurga and the master, but it was 1 or 2 points over 300 :(
Darq may be cheap but what if he was up against Kossak and a bunch of grimlins or balckwings which will hold people down while kossak finishes each off. Not to mention if Darq takes 5 damage from kossak he will not likely survive the encounter.Kossak has regen and vampirism darq has vampirirsm only on his 5th click and does not start with crushing blow while kossak does.
I wouldn't put too much faith in Deathspeaker Darq w/o items if I were you. Darq is too overcosted for his stats, his attack and damage value drops down drastically for a 172 figure. 18 defense is manageable (to hit) nowadays and Invulnerability can be easily neutralized by the many Crushing Blow or Pierce figures around. A lone Rivvenguard Archer** would be enough to kill Darq.
Replace Windweaver and the Delphana Master for additional muscles and a much needed healer for Darq (if you don't want to use PoV).
A good combo for Darq is to put a Blood Demon* alongside him. Darq charges enemy unit, Blood Demon double time to base contact same enemy unit. Next turn, Darq uses siphon energy, removes his action token, and Blood Demon takes 1 pushing damage and is now at its sweet spot (10 attack, 3 damage Crushing Blow).
Blood Demon finishes off enemy unit (heals itself then takes 1 pushing damage), Darq charges another figure. OR Darq finishes off enemy unit, Blood Demon surges another figure (heals for two then takes 1 pushing damage).
Here's an example of a DC pure army I was thinking of using with Darq:
Deathspeaker Darq 172
/w Fireshield 21
/w Magestone Bracers 10
2x Blood Demon* 66
Deathsinger** 29
Total 298
You could switch the Mgestone Bracers for a Grimlin* if you don't need it to be faction pure. If you want healing capability like THE DRAGON suggested then I would take out a Blood Demon and add a couple of Crystal Protectors***.

I love this idea, but i dont have any * blood demons :( I also dont have fireshield (perfect for him I know) and the oh so good magestone bracers :(
heres what I did come up with
DeathSpeaker Darq 172
---shadow plate and hammer of the realms 29+54
* pain wraith 27
*** grimilin 18
300 exact again :)
what do u think of that? the realms relics give him some nice abilitys though he doesnt have a secondary attacker so much, he can bring back people he kills (which he should be doing a bit of
I like your new army better than the original, although you have to be careful not to rely on the ability to revenant what you kill because if your opponent has a revenanter they will have the first opportunity. My personal preference for relics on Darq are: Fireshield, Galeshi Sunsword or Blade of Shadows. Blade of Shadows gives him not only ghostform but also extra vampirism to heal himself up. The downside of it is that he loses his subfaction ability. Galeshi makes him immune to ALL ranged combat where as the Shadow Plate and Blade of Shadows only give him ghostform which can be canceled.
A couple of example armies with these relics:
Deathspeaker Darq 172
w/Galeshi Sunsword 40
Pain Wraith* 27
Crystal Protector*** 17
Hazna Bez Dial d 44
Total 300
(if you don't have a Crystal Protector*** or Hazna Bez they can be interchanged for a Wraith or Ub-Khan***. You could also switch the Pain Wraith to a Deathsinger** if you want to use the Ub-Khan)
Deathspeaker Darq 172
w/ Blade of Shadows 45
Deathsinger** 29
River Bandit** 54
Total 300
If you don't have these cards then it's probably best to stick with the Hammer and Shadowplate. They are also quite nice, boosting his speed, giving him Parry to improve his defense, Crushing Blow which he lacks on his first couple of clicks and ghostform. Just try to take out your opponent's revenanter if you get the chance and make sure you're in a position to bring back Darq if he falls.
the only reason I dont like the blade of shadows is because of the ignore faction thing, the reason I want to use darq (and why hes so nasty) is the ability to probably attack each turn, and I dont have the sunsword or fireshield (though I might be getting the fireshield in a trade soon same thing with the sunsword maybe)
and besides I dont really like the -2 def on the shield, though It does make room for better support.
oh yeah the hammer also gives an extra atk die and the armor could put him in someones rear arc (not that he needs the bonus just prevents counter attack)
Darq won't get the -2 def from Fireshield as it only effects :defense: while Darq is :mi:.
In any case, you probably won't be able to use the Blood Cultist ability too often, imo. Either Darq will get hammered after his first attack that he will be in some serious hurt or the figure next to him, that he is syphoning from, will get hammered and eliminated. I'm not saying that its garanteed to work out this way, but that's what I'd do.
Hero Guy is correct, Darq will not get penalized by the -2 defense of Fireshield since Darq has the magic immunity defense type.
What I don't like about Blade of Shadows on Deathspeaker Darq is that it doesn't give any modifiers to attack which Darq sorely needs. For a 172 point figure, his attack value drops down so fast (13, 12, 11, 10, 10, 9, 8, 9, 9, 10) that even with quadriple Vampirism, it won't do him any good in the middle if he will have a hard time hitting an opponent's 16+ defense.
I like Darq with Galeshi Sunsword and Fireshield, but the Realms relics is just too pricey for my taste. Another suggestion would be the Monk's Blade. It gives +1 to attack and +2 to defense. Plus, you can "parry" any bow type attacks. And since Darq is MI, it narrows down the list of attackers able to attack you in range. Decapitator is always great (if you're not afraid of rolling a critical miss).
Heh...Decap is one of my favorite relics. It makes a support figure into a serious threat since at any time you roll that crit and eliminate a figure. And the modifiers it gives....All for a very affordable price.
well its lookin like I am getting fire shield, soo I probably will go with that on darq and maybe bracers of the giant, that leaves room for another support piece maybe or another item, m not sure, what do you all think?
I would rather prefer you boost either his defense or attack values. Think long term, if Darq (w/ Fireshield and Bracers of the Giant) took 5 clicks of damage, can he still retaliate adequately? Can he defend himself properly?
well I dont have any item I can give him (holding fireshield) that increase his attack or def at the moment :( but If I did yeah Id use them. thanks for the tips.
