imo the EF are the most versatile race with or without styrene. i would play shyft or bpr. if styrene were allowed then it would be more like bpr or atlantis for me.
I also tought playing only centaurs latlely. I think we can come-up with a nice army. But only Dwarf, that's a joke! those 6-8 of speed value will get you no where ;)
Dwarves are fun to play when you mix in some golems. It's always weird seeing those massive, steam-powered hulks providing heavy support for those awkward, "vertically challenged", foul-mouthed halflings. I like fielding the Dwarven Stomper (Nexus) with just dwarves. I'm a big fan of irony.
Hmm...Well, technically the 'flavored' Solonavi could be considered race pure. Orcs are race pure. However, if I had to choose one 'race', I'd play only humans. I mean come on...there is no other 'race' that is more diverse.
i don't think "race" pure would necessarily mean "faction" pure. so if i would to pick just one race it would either be trolls or the 4-armed shyfts (whatever "race" they fall in). trolls, like orcs, are naturally strong and tough, but unlike orcs, they have regeneration. as for the shyft, well, i really like summon as well as their natural ability to control and make full use of MS.

hmm...maybe we can make this a format on the next clash event. what do you think, dragon?:)

Actually, I have 4 tourney formats already line up after the Bare Essentials event. The pure race format is interesting but I would have to contemplate upon it more to see if it is balanced overall.
@Nelat: I believe the original poster did mean 'race' as in the type of figure as opposed to the faction. If you look at the examples given in the first post, there is no mention of any factions.
Humans will give you the most diversity as they have figures in every faction and every sub-faction (maybe not the EL sub-facs, nor orcs). They have strong attackers, strong spell casters, and some good healing. I'm not sure if you are playing with cavalry units, if you are, I'd suggest you take a good look at what 'races' riders come from. Humans and Orcs, and a couple of Elves. That alone might be enough to sway me towards one of those three races.
