According to the rules, if you roll a ace on a black dice, your target has to drop 1 piece of equipment.
My question is:
Is there a way for the target to pick up that piece of equipment on his turn?
My thoughts:
1) you have to use a movement action to pick it up.
2) when the round is over and when you refill your dice pool you also re-equip all lost items
3) you have permently lost that item.
I thank the 2nd one is most logical...but then the pre-release rules don't cover this so it looks like number 3 is the one in effect.
When the item is removed, its dice are removed from your cup, regardless of weither or not they are in your pool or not. They are then removed from the game, completely.
The scenario rules might have something for picking up dropped equipment, but I am not sure. It would be cumbersome, having to fiddle with the slots while the game is going on.
What I would look into doing, though, if you are afraid of how powerful a black ace effect is (hey, yer paying at least 4 for that right, and Kellan at least can't use black as an attack ;) ), perhaps you should look into making a house rule for dropped equipment. This game seems custom made for that kinda stuff.
The defending player must remove one piece of gear from the target figure. The defending player chooses the gear and its corresponding dice, if any, and sets them on the playing surface at the base of the targeted figure. These pieces of gear can be picked up using the rules for picking up gear.Gear can be dropped, picked up or swapped between characters.
To drop gear just remove the gear and all corresponding dice from the figure and place it on the playing surface touching the base of the figure. Any figure can now coma long and pick up the gear.
To pick up or swap gear, the figure must have room to pay the cost to equip it. If the figure cannot pay the cost it has to drop a piece of gear first.
Picking up gear costs dice that you have on your figure’s base. Remove to your dice cup the number of dice equal to the number of shield or dice icons on the new gear. For example, if the gear has a shield icon and two dice icons on it, it would “cost” three dice to pick it up. You get the dice from the new gear immediately and can use it on this turn.
When gear is swapped, exchange the correct dice as well, dice from swapped gear are always placed in the same location they were taken from, so if dice are on the figure’s base they go to the new owners base, if the dice were in the cup, they go to the new owners cup. Only defensive gear can be used immediately. Dice placed on the new figure’s base can be used in that turn.
In the current, pre-release rules (all we have available ATM), an ace on a black dice that successfully hits causes the opponent to drop one piece of equipment, chosen by the unit hit.
In the full rules.. well, it looks as if there will be rules for dropping and picking up equipment
