I have read several posts on here that say aces rolled automatically do damage, then I have seen that only red aces automatically do damage. Is there an actual ruling on this yet, because I don't see how this is correct?
Red Dice- Major Mojo: Add an additional 1 click of damage to the attack.
Under 8. Compare Results: ..............If the attack value is lower than the defense value, the attack fails, and the target is not hit by the attack.
Since the attack failed, there is no attack to add 1 click of damage to. It just doen't seem logical and that would make the magic dominant runners far to powerful. I'm not arguing with anyone on the boards, I just want to know so I am ready to go on Wed.
The pre-release rules were kind fuzzy on this, but you do indeed need the overall attack to succeed for the ace effects to happen.
Remember, aces do not count when determining if the attack succeeds. When the attack succeeds, the ace dice are brought back in, and each does 1 point of damage, in addition to the ace effect for that color die.
Aside from being common sense, it has been stated by WizKids that no damage is done to an opponent unless the attack roll SUCCESSFULLY hits. So there is no 'automatic' damage even on a missed roll.
According to the Kellan Colt rules, on a successful attack, each die that makes it past the 'check for shields' phase deals one click of damage to the target. Aces are never removed due to shields, so on a successful attack they'll do 1 damage plus their ace effect.
On a missed attack, no damage is dealt, no matter how many aces were rolled.
