Am I a total nuget-head, or are there not any published rules for team composition??? Yeah, I see that a figure can have no more than 12 "slots" worth of gear, but what about the point values of the figures? Does anyone really believe that Lothan vs Kellan is a fair fight?

Okay, so I ASSUME that you are supposed to pick a point value, say 25 points, and then each player is free to use whatever figures and gear he wishes, summing to 25 points or less, and so that no figure has more than 12 points of gear.

Is this correct? Am I missing something?

The team point total would be something like 8 points.

ok, I take Silver Max(3), G-Dogg(3), and Kyushi(2) for a total of 8 points.

Now, I rummage through my gear to figure out wich 12 points of gear I want for each of my 3 figs.

My opponent decides to take Lothan(4) and the Street Deacon(2), and Kellen(2) for 8 points total.

Now he rummages through his equipment for 12 points of equipment for each of his characters.

Does that make sense....?

I don't think it works that way. I think the figure's point cost is calculated into the 12 points per character. Why do I say that?

I've looked at some dials and tapes. Some of the higher point cost peoples really just OUGHTWAY (by alot) the lower cost peoples.

Net_Runner is absolutely correct. The figure point totals are used to decide how big a team you have. Yes some of the bigger figures outway by a lot the smaller ones, that is why I can get a Kellen and a Street deacon for 4 points, where my opponent would only be able to field Lothan for his 4 points. This should give a balanced game.

The general consensus seems to be that the standard team size is going to be only 6 pts.

Also, figure cost is "points", gear cost is in "slots". That right there should tell you that they are 2 different things...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! I never even noticed that "points vs slots distinction." I think that answers it.
