seeing as the book has no scenarios and the standerd game is over an empty 3x3 space i would like to start an list of scenario ideas to share with all players
each senario has special rules or even units to make things more interesting however any givein scenario may not have been playtested for fairness or even quirky situations that are not covered keep that in mind if useing my ideas
also i am really looking for other peoples ideas as well ...
here goes the first one
raid on aerodrome
set up low altitude you may place obsticals as you see fit an radio tower is an good idea the only thing nessary is an hanger and some reperesentation of an tarmak 4-6? small paper buildings to shoot up
points allocation
defender 300 the defender may have 1-2 barrage balloons with the following stats stationary, si 3, 360 arc of fire, range 4, gunnery 3,the balloons are 10pts each
the defender may also have 1-2 guntrucks with the following stats move 1 in any direction si 4 360 arc range 3 gunnery 2 (armor pericing ) the trucks cost 15 pts each
the two above units move after all planes and fire after all planes have moved
attacker 200
last special rule the defender starts the game on the ground(deployed on the tarmak terrain)
and loses the first turn during take off they are targets on the first turn but there si is increased by one (they are harder to see) and must start the second turn moveing at their slowest speed...preferably heading down the runways direction
experinace each ballon shot down 10 pts each truck 15
each building destroyed 10 buildings have an si of 4 and reduce damage taken by one one hit destroys any small building the radio tower takes 2 and hanger takes 3 to mark hits just use counters of some sort...
ideas questions compalints and further scenarios greatly appreciated... also i have photoshoped the nessary counters for the balloons and trucks if any one wants them i wll email them out...
Sounds okay, but why would you need counters for the balloons? COnsidering how fast the planes are moving, the balloons would be stationary objects like the buildings.
There are a million options for scenarios in this game. I like the id3a for the barrage ballons but normally they are stationary un-manned things with no guns. But thats true history, this is CS history. Damb busters with each attacking plane with only one try at busting the damb is a good one with defending guns and aircraft. a run through a canyon *dangerous and with little shooting action* etc. I look forward to seeing what WK thinks up.
the counters are to show the location of the balloons and their stats so they are not easyly forgoten the balloons do not move
i thought that some time in ww1 one side or the other sent up balloons with machine gun mounts in them suicide for sure but... i know that those sorts a balloons were used to observe movements of troops...
as far as the scenarios being avaliable in the classic CS rules this is true but not every body has access to those rules or can even buy them if they wanted to...
Well, if you take the PC game, they DO have stationary barrage ballons with guns. :) So you have some reason for them. Considering how heavilly armed zepellins are, I can see these aerial turrets actually showing up.
Well ok, arial gun mounts work. i was just complaining because its not historical. barrage ballons were simply put up as obsticals for night fighters/bombers to crash into or get sliced by the wires holding them up. Sorry. It would make it more interesting though if they fired back.
Heck, in the PC game, they had small, armed blimps used as small assualt carriers, with armed boats slung underneath that were floated to a target and dropped into the water. Once the boats were dropped to make their own attack runs, the balloons would remain on station and contribute to the attack by providing cover fire.
what about blimps filled with pure O2? Withradom movment of 3 (wind driff) and if any plane hits one it takes 5 clicks, also can be shoot down withan SI of 5 and one click.I beleive England used ballons similar to these in WWII to prevent German airforce from flying over city during night when allons where hard to detect.
