Do you plan to Dress in Period Costume for the Marquee?
I was talking with friends about this last night. I know the Envoy running the event is going to come in period costume. I was wondering what everyone thought of this.
Personally I think it's a great idea. I plan to make a complete idiot out of myself. I am a woman and so I have A LOT more options available to me. I have been surfing the web all week trying to figure out what I can do.
I only wish I had noticed it sooner so I could have had more time to research and find some of the items I am missing.
I have a cute outfit laid out... since the 20 type styling was still going on in the 30's I'm doing that. Have a headband with a feather in it... a top with dangly bits and a skirt to match.
I figure I will win on sheer shock value as no one at my venue has ever seen me in a skirt.
Glad to see other Female players! Not enough of us out here!
I was thinking about doing the flapper style but I don't have time to get the outfit I want. I was gonna announce my costume on here but others from my venue are on here and I want it to be a surprise. Hehehhe
My wife and I are both planning on going in costume. I'm gonna break out the old bomber jacket and see if I can find some entertaining squadron patches to put on it. I think I can get my hands on an aviators scarf, but I have not been able to come up with any decent flight goggles yet.
My wife was talking about Black Swan and going for her look. Highly attractive, but very predatory.
We'll see if anyone else shows up in costume at my venue.
I don't know how many people are going to show up. I was going to order an aviator cap and goggles, and I found a site selling old Army Air Force scarfs...but until we get more players I don't think i will sink in the money. Pretty much if anyone shows up at my venue, in costumeor out, it will suprise me
I plan on going in costume. I have it all except a pair of boots for the costume. I found a bomber jacket on ebay for $25, and a silk scarf for $10. I already had the Goggles I wear them when I ride my motercycle. I have a pair of old kaki cargo pants and add a white shirt and aviaters cap and I'm done except for boots. Still haven't been able to find a reasonable priced set of boots.
It was the original "Kickoff" tourney and one of the very few sanctioned tournies that was run for CS. I think it actually took place in June or July of last year.
They were held at various venues (game/hobby stores, game clubs, etc.) around the country. I think there around 300 of these tournaments that were available for scheduling that weekend.
As far as when the next one is, since Wizkids has pretty much left Crimson Skies high and dry, I do not think there will be any in the foreseeable future.
However, there are some venues around that are still running Crimson Skies tournament, albiet fairly sporadically. You can log onto the WizKids website and go the "Events" area and runa search for CS Tourneys near you. There may be some, they may not.
Where are you located? Maybe I can help you get in touch with a venue, if you are in my general area (San Antonio, TX).
I am hoping to ask wizkids while i am at the envoy dinner in San Diego about another marquee.
I have noticed thjough that they have dropped CS from their convention tournament lists so i am extremely doubtful.
