what is deemed a "great play" or a "blooper play"?
I saw on the map that a great play will gain a click of performance and a blooper will lose a click, but what determines what makes a great play or blooper?
When you make a fielding/throwing attempt, certain dice rolls mean special plays. If you read Pg. 10 of the rule book, it explains the differences.
For instance, if you roll double 6's during a fielding/throwing attempt, that is a "highlight play", which would gain either the fielder maing the play or the current pitcher (your choice) a click up in performance.
Any other "double" which results in a successful fielding/throwing attempt would result in a click up for the fielder.
Any roll of doubles which is NOT successful in the fielding/throwing attempt is an error, resulting in the fielder losing a click, while double 1's is a "blooper play". In this case, either the fielder or the current pitcher (your choice)loses a click.
Heh, my opponent rolled double 1's last night on a FB Fielding attempt by Jose Cruz Jr. The groan could be heard miles away. Of course he gave the cold click to Jose instead of Kerry.
Either the fielder or the pitcher (manager's choice) will either lose or gain a click on double 6's or double 1's. On any other double, the fielder gets or loses the click, depending on whether or not the fielding/throwing attempt was successful.

Ahaha! This is too funny only b/c I'm a Giants fan. That's exactly what Jose Cruz did in the playoffs against the Marlins that cost them the game! Ouch, still hurts...

Yeah, my friend brought that up last night as well. What bitter irony...even Cruz's FIGURE is cursed with a poor throwing arm. :)

HEHEHE! Marlins fan here. Yeah man, I couldn't believe when Cruz got stuck out in right field, fell down, fumbled the ball, stood up, fell down again. That was so classic, it was like Angels in the outfield or something. SO MANY THINGS fell into place for the Marlins that it was like destiny.
