This is very cool. I love the monster and pesky's pole rules! Very well thought out. Leave it to a Sox fan to be the first to build a stadium. I wonder if Wizkids is going to make stadiums and sell them at some point...
I definately like this idea. I have been wanting to make a Wrigley Field using some board and styrofoam and such and make it actually 3D with solid fences and the like. Or just make a universal style 3D stadium with movable solid fences. I heard Wizkids has one going around at the Wizard World Conventions and such.
Very nicely done!
I am in the process of building a generic field with movable fences so that you can play all games on it, but I like the idea of building real stadiums too. I'd start with some of my all time favorites, like the Polo grounds and Robison (complete with the roller coaster in left field of course).
I bought a round piece of particle-type wood about two feet in diameter and am painting the field right on there as opposed to using the playmat.
Then I got tired of the playmat and made the field.
The group in my area are all building their own stadiums now!
Has anyone else tried this?
Rob
That's pretty tight man. Just wondering though...how do you determine where the ball goes in zones with different fence depths? By the way...if you'd like to try to make an Angels Stadium I'd probably buy the pieces from you.
I had a lot of fun making it. I've made another Diamond using green felt. Looks like artificial turf. I'll have some pics posted of it and the other stadiums being built in our area as soon as I can. One Stadium even has a Pennant from the april league.
Halos, I didn't have the stadium lined up perfectly when I was taking the shots, so it looks like there are multi color fences in the same zone. It's a YYRRYG stadium. You can tell the left field apart on top of the monster. The Green vertical popsicle stick on the monster is where center field starts. The flag pole seperates the center fields. The Yellow bullpen face is one right field, while the Green part next to the pole is the other.
That was actually the toughest part of making this stadium. Getting the Zones the right lenght and what "Natural" stadium features to use as demarkation lines.
Sorry guys, Not building other stadiums...yet. I'll let you all know If I start selling them. ;)
I'm building a field that is a replica of Pohlman Field the Home of a local A Brewers affiliate Beloit Snappers.
They have a Culver's (Restaurant) Sign in Left Center, if a home team home run hits it everyone wins ice cream from Culver's.
I'm making a rule on it that states - If a HR or Red FB is hit here, the hitter of the HR's Manager roles, if a doubles are rolled that manger chooses a player to click up. (not to exceed 3 clicks an at bat)
I used ads from their program to glue on the fence(YYYYYY) and printed out a scoreboard from the internet, still working on the foul poles and distance markers.
