Like islands, WizKids apparently thinks that the rabid collector types who make up a lot of their core audience don't actually care about the asteroids. Leaving it to us to figure out what all there is. I opened 36 packs so far, and got 5 different asteroids.
They have no numbering on them, so I will arbitrarily number mine. If you have one you think is not one of these, let me know.
1) With the narrow end of the built-up side pointing up, there's a string of 7 yellow lights in the upper right, just above a red and gray dome with three red outbuilding domes. To the left of that is a red dome with a white cross of tunnels.
2) With the pointy end up, most of the buildings are in the bottom half, pretty much all shades of light gray. The main structure is a ring with an X through it.
3) Similar in general description to #2, but the main dome is off to th eleft and has no X.
4) This one has the big docking ring at the small end, and is two asteroids in mutual orbit on the "raw" side. Secondary color is red.
5) Lots of blue domes, and an "X over a ring" structure with a blue dot at the middle.
I have # 2 and 5, but I *think* I may have a sixth unless I am misunderstanding the descriptions: a oval-ish shaped asteriod, with darker area pointing up it has structures on the bottom half, with a light yellow (?) bar shape on the right which is horizontal, and another yellow bar off to the bottom left slanting from west to south.
It also has a grayish-red circle on the left (west) that looks like a landing pad Is this one of your numbers or a six?
I have four distinct ones, and I think they're all mentioned above. I distinguish them by color. One has red highlights, one blue, one (very faint) yellow, and one while. I haven't seen the 'binary asteroid'. And I'd like to note that the red one (number 1 on Dave's list) looks like a foot. :)
I have it, I even have a spare of it if anyone wants it.
I think it's a pity Wizkids doesn't add the asteroids and islands to the card galleries, because I constantly wonder how my collection progresses with those, and I'm bad at doing quick descriptions.
Anyway, I have four different types. I'll try to match them to Dvandom's list.
3 - I think this is the one you called two. One narrow end and a glow effect from one crater? Three grey ring structures with yellow rings and a yellow spot at the center? I have two.
4 - Binary asteroid, this one might be my favorite.
6 - This one is a bit blocky except for a protrusion on the undeveloped end. Lots of domes with yellow rings and center black rings, some cylindrical structures, and a main x structure with yellow highlights and a cross hatch in the center. I have a second.
7 - There is a purplish lighted x structure ina crater, I think of of it as a landing pad. The main structure is a cluster of domes around a central dome, linked by other domes or bars. There are also two large cylindrical structures.
This isn't a permanent archive, but I'm having issues with my usual image hosting site (dvandom.com), so I'm putting them om Eyrie for now. I'll probably set up a proper gallery later, using scans sent to me if I can't get the other asteroids in person (my username is my email addy, thanks to an accidental autofill).
The pics are a nice touch. Not having seen the binary system, I'll have to say that it has replaced the "foot" as my favorite. Now if I could only get one...
Okay let me just chime in after seeing your scans, I can confirm I have a additional asteroid. Shall we agree to call it # 6? I'll try to get a scan and send it to you, would that be cool? :)
uh yeah so anyway how in heck am I supposed to attach the file of the scan?
I tried to PM you and attach it but uh nope...any advice, help etc...thanks.
BTW the file I have is in PNG format and scanned at 200 dpi resolution Is that adequate or does it need to be 300 and jpg or gif ?
