This is the first fleet I've made that manipulates crew transfers. It hasn't had much playtime, so I'm being really liberal with my ship choices &c. (I'm still in the terran mindset :P)
Plan:
Stick the WO on a fighter, this will be your "lead fighter," and head out. Try and center yourself around the edge of the rogue asteroid so the Enigma can land and mine if it needs to. Now, here's the All For 1 tactic: When moving the lead fighter, spend one less AP than allowed (IE 6 AP= 5 usable AP). Get it into range and fire, then send your second fighter up and dock with the lead fighter. Transfer the WO, and fire with the second fighter. Finally, repeat the actions of the second fighter. Finally, if you need to safecuard the WO, (and the Enigma hasn't mined that turn) move the Enigma to dock with the final fighter and transfer the WO again.
This can work with almost any ship set, but works best with fighters because of their large AP pool and generally nice WRs. I like this strategy with the Banshee's Wail because the squadron has a build in fighter pilot!
Right now I'm working on possibly using Mercury or Mars fighters for this idea.
yeah that Weapon Officer would reduce your WR to a 4 , which could totally hose someone. nice! I am not entirely sold on 1A/1S configuration though....is the protection granted really worth the reduction in firepower?
The Enigma is another great choice! Its ability to force rerolls on each hit against it is so aggravating, I love it. ^____^ and the cargo hold of 4 is sweet.
Seems that he will not use reserve fleet with that. Least he dosen't have to worry about recources and he can start fighting soon as his ships get opposing ships to they range. Well least thats what i assume.
Heh, glad you guys like the fleet idea :P
It's still a wholly unproven method but I plan on playing some games using this idea in the next few days.
My intention was to have some sort of Reserve Fleet (mainly because WizKids requires one) but I'm still fuzzy as to what it might be. It'll include fighters, because fighters are hands down the best thing to put into a reserve fleet, so maybe the Hammers Squadron or my tried and true Stranglers.
I'm also, upon the advice of council, debating taking out the Banshee's Wail as my main fighter starter and placing something cheaper in, like again the Hammers.
I guess I'll let you guys know how it pans out. Thanks for the response!
